"Are you going to tell me what happened or not," Kaleb asked after we walked out of the gym.
"Nothing happened," After the thing with Theodore last week I have been avoiding him, and he has been scared of me. Kaleb knows that something happened but I wont tell him because I didn't want there to be even more bad blood between the two of them.
"Are you going to stick with that story," He said grabbing me so that I couldn't walk away from him.
"Yes," I said shortly before turning around and leaving anyways.
I walked up to my room and had a nice long shower. I liked showers, they seemed to be the only time that I could just relax and breath. I feel like I am becoming two people, Mary Johnston the one that is the Princes girlfriend and Chayla the lone wolf that wouldn't be around people for longer than the consult takes.
"Brian we need to talk," I said to him through my mind.
"What is it Chayla, are you in trouble?" He asked worried. At least I knew that he cared.
"Not physically, but mentally yes,"
"What?"
"We are going to have to move up your plans, I can't do this for much longer, it is starting to tear me up inside and I don't know how much longer I am going to be able to last before I make a mistake, a fatal mistake,"
"We are still looking for the rogue lycan, we are going to use him to cause more turmoil in the Royal Family and to get more supporters for our side. I don't know how long it is going to take? How much longer do you think you can last?"
"A month, maybe two, any longer than that and I am going to come out of this severely damaged and I would like to avoid that,"
"Okay, if we haven't found him in a month we will figure something else out. You have my word that you wont be there for any longer than two months."
"Thank God,"
"Why?" I hadn't realized I said it out loud till Kaleb said that. He was standing outside of my door watching me.
"Huh?" I said, not really clueing into what was happening.
"Well, you were sitting on your bed totally zoned out and then you said 'Thank God' and I asked Why?"
"Oh, sorry, I think I was in my own little world. Anyways, what are you doing here?" I asked getting off of the bed and walking towards him.
"Well, I am here to ask my girlfriend if she wanted to go on a midnight stroll with me?" He said looking at me.
"Okay, but its like eight?"
"Fine, an eight o'clock stroll with me," he said rolling his eyes at me.
"That sounds great," I grabbed his hand and he lead my out to the gardens. We were just walking and talking when I heard something in the distance, I instantly stopped talking and listened.
"Mary Wha..." I put my hand over his mouth stopping what ever he was going to say. Thats with a heard it, the 'twang' of the string and the sound of the arrow moving through the air.
I through all of my body weight into Kaleb knocking him off his feet so the the arrow missed his heart and just barely grazed me.
"Stay down," I said to him. I moved so that I was still crouched on the ground but I was now holding onto the knives that I had hidden in my boots.
I sat there and listened, but I couldn't hear anything other then my steady breaths and the beating of my heart in my ears.
"We are going to make a run for the house. I don't hear anything but that doesn't mean that there isn't any one out there," I said looking down at Kaleb.
"Ready... run," with that we both took off using our super speed and made it back in record time. We made it to the main room and Marcus was there talking with the King.
"Mary? What happened?" Marcus asked as soon as he saw me.
"We were out in the garden just walking when we were attacked. I want a full perimeter sweep and once that is cleared I want to talk to the Guards I want to know how an intruder got close enough to take a shot at us," I said throwing the arrow on the table. I grabbed it before we ran hoping that it would have some marks leading us to who ever made it, or better, who ever shot it.
"I also want..." but I didn't get to finish as the whole room seemed to do a complete 180.
"Mary?" I could hear them talking, but it felt like there was cotton stuck in my ears. I tried to talk, but before I could my world went black and I met with the floor.
