Into The Truth

I'm about to throw a curve ball, but I really don't care. Things are about to change.

Alice didn't know what she was doing here. She just agreed to come for the sake of her roommate, just to appease her. More or less just to get her to shut up. But now she was sitting in the chair next to her roommate, silent tears cascading down her cheeks as the man in front basically told her everything she needed to hear, but really didn't want to. As she sat and silently cried, a hand came down and took hers gently, a calm reassurance to somehow appease the war raging inside her chest. She wished Sebastian was here.

"Come on, Alice. It's okay. He's got you." Her roommate whispered in her ear soothingly, gently guiding her up and out of her chair. Alice felt a flash of fear, and she tried to resist, although something inside her was yearning to just go. To do this. "Alice, you're scared. No, you're terrified that this will all add up to nothing. That you'll go back to our dorm and feel this same emptiness that you've always felt but never really realized that's there. That if you do this then everything you've worked so hard for will come crumbling down around you. That your Sebastian won't want you anymore after this is done. Well, if he doesn't, then he really doesn't love you does he?"

"He does love me." Alice protested quietly.

"I know that. But so does he." Her roommate nodded. "A part of you wants this, wants it so much that it hurts. And a part of you will want to share this with Sebastian, and your other boys that go to Dalton. It's okay to be afraid. I was terrified when I went up, when I gave everything back. But look at how I turned out! Happy, content, and at peace. Don't you want that, too? If you really love Sebastian, then you'll share this with him. And if he really loves you, he'd want you to do this. Relationships were never meant to be two-way. But three-way."

Alice swallowed nervously. She knew everything her roommate was saying was true. She did want it. So, so much. "Stay by me?" Alice asked in a tiny voice.

Her roommate smiled. "Of course." She agreed. Alice took a deep breath and walked up to the front of the sanctuary, right up to the pastor. Her roommate stayed right behind her, just like she promised.

And just like she promised, Alice left the church with a new sense of contentment, happiness, and peacefulness that she hadn't had before. All because she decided to give her heart back to God. Her only worry was Sebastian. How would he feel about this? Would he still want her?

Alice jumped when a pair of arms encircled her from behind. "Hey you." Sebastian murmured in her ear.

"Hi." Alice smiled, although her heart was nervously thudding in her chest. Sebastian pecked her cheek and sat down next to her, pulling her into a hug.

"What's wrong? You're so tense." Sebastian noted in concern, pulling away to look at her.

"I'm okay. Just...there's something I need to talk to you about." Alice hedged.

"I don't like the sound of that." Sebastian observed, reclining against the sofa inside the Senior Commons. "You're not breaking up with me, are you?"

"What? No!" Alice shook her head. "It's nothing bad, I promise. It just, depends on how you take it. Please try to keep an open mind."

"O-kay?" Sebastian agreed hesitantly. "What's up?"

"You know my roommate at Crawford?" Alice asked.

"That Christian girl?" Sebastian guessed. Alice nodded. "Yeah, what about her?"

"She..." Alice sighed. "She invited me to church with her. And I went."

Sebastian got an odd look on his face, something that Alice couldn't decipher. It scared her. "And?"
