Into Graduation

"Oh, dear Lord, it's really happening." Alice heard her boyfriend say as she headed for his and Blaine's shared dorm room at Dalton Academy. Alice smiled to herself as she knocked on the door, it being opened by a smiling Sebastian a second later. His smile faltered a bit as he took her in: dressed in a long dark scarlet red graduation gown with a matching cap on her head, resting over her blonde curls.

"What? Is my tassel tangled or something?" Alice asked worriedly, glancing down at herself just in case something was out of place. Her gown wasn't zipped up yet, but that was only because it was hot out and she didn't want to sweat out of her gown before the ceremony. A long standing tradition that dates back decades, Dalton and Crawford Academy always came together to hold a unanimous graduation ceremony each year.

Sebastian tugged her forward by her waist and pressed his lips against hers in a searing kiss, not caring that his own dark indigo cap was knocked off by the motion. Alice let out a surprised squeak but kissed him back anyway. "You look perfect." Sebastian told her softly, with a warm and proud smile. "Absolutely perfect. You just caught me off guard." Alice beamed up at him as he laughed and kissed her again.  "I'm so proud of you."

"And I you." Alice replied.

"Okay, you guys are gonna make me barf if you don't quit with the sweet-kissy-kissy show." Blaine called teasingly from inside the dorm room.

"Oh, like you and Miss Marley like to do?" Sebastian called back, following Alice into the spacious dorm room. The boys' caps and gowns were dark indigo blue, and like Alice's cap, which stated '99 Problems But A Degree Ain't One!' in big, sparkly letters, theirs were decorated. Blaine's said in lightning bolt letters 'My Hogwarts letter never came, so I was forced to endure this Muggle school.', and 'I became the impossible. I became a high school graduate.' was written across Sebastian's cap with a lightning bolt emblem underneath.

Blaine turned as red as Alice's cap and gown. It was no secret that he and the New Directions girl that had replaced him had been texting and calling each other non-stop since meeting at Nationals. And it was also no secret that they were the new ship that Jeff and Alice liked to captain. "We're just friends, guys!" He whined.

"Then why are you blushing?" A new voice teased, the voice belonging to Dalton Academy's salutatorian Nick Janeson and the kid that scraped through high school having a blast, their best friend Jeff Sterling. They were dressed like the rest of the Dalton boys, with dark indigo blue caps and gowns, save for Nick, who had a golden sash around his shoulders, and Sebastian and Blaine, who each had a long medal around their necks, showcasing that they were two of the few that were graduating with honors. And like the rest of them, their caps were also decorated. Jeff's was a spitting image of the boy himself, simply saying: Smell ya laters, suckers! in blocky print, while Nick's was more conventional: Oh, the places I'll go...said his in fancy print.

"Oh, hush it Mr. Salutatorian." Blaine grumbled, straightening his gown. Each of the Warblers had a blue and red cord hanging around their shoulders to represent their times as a part of the Dalton Academy Show Choir. The room fell silent. "I can't believe this is actually happening." He breathed.

"Don't you dare make me cry, Blaine Devon Anderson." Alice commanded, poking him in the chest. "If my mascara runs I'll tie you to a crucifix and let you hang there on our way to New York." Blaine blanched and fell silent while the others chuckled.

"Think about it though." Jeff sighed with a soft smile. "After today, we don't have the cushion of high school to keep us all together anymore. Nick and I are headed to California, and the three of you are going to New York. Everything is going to change after today."

"We still have all summer." Blaine offered.

"Actually, no we don't." Alice disagreed with a bite to her lip.
