Chapter 3.
Me and Jason were sitting in the kitchen in deafening silence. His house was nice, with clean white walls and a warm wooden feel to it. Even though the house radiated coziness I still felt cold and sat as rigid as a board.
"So, what did my mother want?" I asked. Jason looked startled by such a question, but answered me nonetheless.
"She wanted to talk to you, see if you are alright." Jason peered at me, as if trying to decipher my emotions. I've had a lifetime of hiding my emotions, no one could know what I was thinking.
Except the woman from the laboratory.
"Jason?" I started awkwardly. He twisted his body, so that he was facing me and intently waited for me to continue.
"I had a, a vision last night," and I told him about the woman, the laboratory and the presentation. I could almost see his brain working.
"She didn't say her name?" He asked.
"No."
"And you didn't ask her?" He gives me a pointed look.
"No," I answer. Jason sighs.
"I'll, umm, go for a walk," I say quietly and stand up. Jason doesn't stop me, seeing as he is immersed in deep thought.
I open the front door. It creaks slightly, and a cool spring breeze washes over my face, clearing my head. Outside the view is magnificent. The mountain slopes downwards, with seas of green here and there. A clear river rushes past the house, spraying me with water. I laugh, I truly laugh. I haven't laughed in a long, long time. It was so beautiful, so fantastic, that I could even forget all my troubles, and enjoy the rumbling of the river, the singing if the birds, the soft breeze that flows across my face. This is a magical place. This- is a place where dreams come true.
And then that moment was ruined.
A shotgun sounded in the distance. I whipped my head towards the sound and saw three men with guns running towards the house. I bolted for the door one of the men pulled the trigger and the bullet didn't hit me, but it did scrape my arm. A blinding pain coursed through my veins. Jason heard the sound and commotion and burst through the door. And that's when he'll froze over.
Jason kicked and punched with all his might. The men fought him, but one remembered me and started tying me up with rope. But Jason was too quick for him. He kicked the man over and then sent a punch at his nose. The man groaned and then moved no more.
The was blood everywhere, the men sprawled over the ground and their prestige white uniforms soaked with blood. One's leg was bent at a painful angle. I heard the roar of helicopter blades and Jason's worried face, and then I drifted off into blackness.
