Aboard the Jackdaw: Under Edward Kenway And The Black Flag

11: Opportunities

From inside the captain's cabin, Anna was becoming more of a wreck with every cannon ball that she heard hitting the deck of the Jackdaw. She wanted to fight.

Gosh.. I really am thinking like a pirate now, amn't I.

What if something happened to Dr. John? To Soap? To Joel? Not to mentioned Adawalé and Edward.

Edward...

When this is over I will give him a piece of my mind..

Her crew yelled right outside, and Anna heard the muffled orders of Kenway above to haul the ship in.

Now the swordfighting was beginning..

Anna fidgeted her pistol with a shaking hand. She was as desperate as an alcoholic who was withdrawing for a drink.

Soon, swords clanged, explosions shook the ship, pistols fired, and just when Anna thought she couldn't take it anymore, the door to the cabin suddely burst open. Russell stood in the doorway with a mischievous glint in his eye. He put a hushing finger over his bloodied lip. He said queitly,

"Shh.. Wait to be attacked."

"What the fuck?!" She exclaimed.

He vanished, leaving the door open to reveal the fight raging on both the decks, but Anna was too shocked to move.

What does Russell mean?!

Suddenly, a British soldier noticed Anna and charged into the cabin with his sword raised to strike her. Anna pointed the pistol at him,

BOOM

He dropped lifeless to the ground. The shot instantly attracted the attention of three more redcoats, and they instantly barreling towards Kenway's cabin in attack.

Shit.

Soon, Anna lead her attackers on a chase around Edward's cabin and out through the battle across the open deck. Most of the soldiers following her got distracted by the battle, but one still preyed on her. She turned to fight him. She deflected his attack and kicked him in the crotch, using his immobilization to stab him in the chest.

She found Joel in the battle and decided to stay close to him, just in case.

"Anna?!"
He asked through fighting,
"What the hell are ya doing out here?"

"I didn't have a choice Joey," Anna panted as she ducked a Navyman, "They barged into the office, I was outnumbered. I had to."

A snap sounded in Anna's head.

So that's why Russel told me to stay put.. so I could say that, and have an excuse! He wanted this to happen! He wanted me to fight!

The pirates quickly gained the upper hand, and the fight was coming to an end.

Anna finished her four opponent of the battle and went to look for another when the Redcoats suddenly dropped their swords and pistols in surrender.

The pirates threw their weapons up in victory, and Anna raised her sword in the air and cried out with them.

It felt good to be on the wining team once and a while.

It was the final six redcoats standing that surrendered, all of them were shocked, covered in blood spatters, and disheveled beyond hope. Anna felt a small fray of pity for them. They were forced to kneel in a line on their own frigate.
