Grace's P.O.V
By the time my shift was over I was completely exhausted. My feet were aching and I smelt like coffee because someone had bumped into me while I was carrying a full tray of drinks. I was beyond grateful that I could go home, order some Chinese, and binge watch Supernatural for what might be the seventh time.
Despite it being late November I didn't put my jacket on. I was hot and sweaty from running around, I needed to cool off, air out, I half wanted to flop down into the snow.
"Inviting isn't it?" I heard a voice behind me say.
I whirled around and stared wide eyed at the brunette from earlier. I blinked several times, completely taken aback by the fact that he was still here "Are you stalking me?" I asked guarded. I didn't carry a purse, or any mace or pepper spay. I was very quickly reconsidering my life choices.
His eyes got huge and he put his hands up "No! Well... I guess it depends on your definition of stalking." he said sheepishly, his whole face turning red.
Realizing he wasn't going to attack me I allowed myself to relax and stepped closer to him "Well, what're you still doing here? If I don't like your answer I'm calling the cops."
He seemed to tense a little and cleared his throat "I realized that I forgot to ask your name, and when I tried to go back and ask you were already so busy that I thought I'd just wait until your shift ended." he said rubbing the back of his neck.
I raised an eye brow. "You stayed outside, in the snow for hours, just so you could ask my name?" I asked, completely astonished and equally flattered.
He shrugged like it was no big deal and smiled down at me "My names Finnick by the way, but my friends call me Fin."
"Finnick." I echoed. As soon as his name left my lips he closed his eyes and shivered slightly, like it gave him pleasure to hear me say it. That weirded me out, and I had half a mind to lie and say my name was Robin or something like that, but before I really had a chance to think it through I heard myself saying "Grace."
Finnick got a big goofy smile and quietly repeated "Grace."
I don't know why, maybe it was the way he said it, but I had an electric thrill slide up my spine causing me to shiver in much the same way he did. When I opened my eyes again Finnick had stepped much closer to me. He was close enough I could smell his musk, the smell of pine needles and firewood smoke. It took every last ounce of self restraint to keep myself from wrapping my arms around him and press my nose against his clothes. He just smelled so welcoming, and it just made me feel safe.
Finnick lifted his hand and gently touch my cheek. His hand was so warm, I couldn't help myself, I leaned my head into his touch, closing my eyes. His thumb gently caressed my cheek bone; I practically melted into a puddle of goop. "There's no doubt." he said softly, causing me to open my eyes "You're my mate."
That made me snap out of the kind of trance that he had some how put me in and take several steps back "Mate? What the hell kind of joke is that?" I said, backing away even further.
He shook his head "It isn't a joke, you can't deny that you felt it too Grace, we're meant to be!"
I shook my head, staring at him "You're just a creepy stalker, leave me alone!" I quickly turned and started to jog away from him.
He grabbed my wrist "Grace, I am not a stalker, I'm you're mate. You can't just walk away from me!"
"Leave me alone!" I screamed, wrenching my arm free and running down the side walk. Finnick didn't pursue me this time, probably because we had a few people watching, some with their phones at the ready.
Completely freaked out I made my way home, periodically checking over my shoulder to make sure I didn't have any pursuers. I was about halfway home when the two blonds from earlier came out of an ally. The tall one grabbed me and before I could scream the other one pressed a rag over my nose and mouth "Real sorry about this princess, but you only have one mate, and you're unfortunate enough to be the alphas."
I strained to try and get free, but my head got foggy and my body went numb. I tried to fight against the darkness that was trying to consume me, but it was too strong, and it swallowed me whole.
