Grace's P.O.V

Finnick had walked me down to the kitchen and made me a sandwich. I sat at the island, taking small bites and sipping at the glass of water given to me. Finnick leaned against the island on the other side from me. After holding me through my melt down he'd been respectful of my personal space and kept a safe distance. I won't deny that in the back of my head I was hoping that he'd hold me more. He scent made me feel calm and relaxed, and I really needed that right now.

Finnick watched me for a couple minutes. "Do you have any questions? I mean personally if I was finding out that werewolves were real I'd be just spewing questions non stop until people gagged me." The imagery was less than ideal, but I appreciated him trying to keep things light.

I shook my head, taking another bite of my sandwich. Finnick frowned "Really? Well, I guess I'll just answer the questions that I would have if I was in your shoes." He clears his throat a stood up straighter. "I'm the alpha, meaning I'm the leader of the pack, every alpha has a beta, and every beta has a delta, sometimes better known as an apprentice. Remember back at the diner I had those two other guys with me? The one with pale blond hair is my beta, and the super tall guy is his delta, the help me to make sure that everything in the pack runs smoothly and we stay hidden from humans.

"How do we stay hidden from humans you ask? Good question. Our pack lives in a closed off community from the rest of humans, the humans think of us as just any other religious gated community. As Alpha I act as the mayor more or less, I also inherited my fathers company when I inherited his position as alpha, that's what keeps a steady income coming to our pack.

"As for the rest of the community it's like your average small town in the middle of the forest. There's a general store, bar, a cafe or two, a florist, post office, if you can think of it being in a small town its here. It's the rest of the pack that maintains these facilities, we try to limit our contact with the human side of the world as to make the chances of our secret getting out much smaller." Finnick paused and stared at my wide eyed expression and smiled slightly "Any questions now?"

I nodded, putting what was left of my sandwich back on my plate "Yes, when we first met out side the diner you said I was your mate, and then just before your beta kidnapped me he said that you only have one mate, and then earlier you said that your pack is entirely made up of werewolves."

Finnick looked down as he thought about how to answer "I'm sure you've read some saucy romance novel about werewolves before, right?" he asked. He must've taken my red cheeks as a yes because he continued "Those are actually surprisingly accurate. Every werewolf has someone that completes them, their other half, their soulmate, of course we don't know who he or she is until after we've met them, some werewolves can go their whole life without meeting their intended, and it was getting to the point with me that I was even starting to doubt."

I gave him a quizzical look and he smiled "There werewolf population shrinks more and more with every generation, to try a keep the blood lines strong all the packs in the country meet once a year starting at the age of 16 until your 21th birthday in hopes that you'll find your intended somewhere in that span of 6 years, and because of this said gathering that's usually what happens with the exception of a handful of wolves."

Finnick studied my face, tilting his head slightly, looking very much like a dog whose owner just hid his ball behind his back "I turn 22 next month, I had given up on ever meeting my other half, then I met you." he smiled in a way that made my heart melt.

My face felt like it was on fire and I took another big bite of my sandwich in hopes of ruining the moment. Finnick chuckled softly and picked a stay piece of lettuce from the corner of my mouth, "I know you don't trust me, and you're probably really freaked out by all of this, but I hope that I can earn your trust, and maybe even your love." he said, gently brushing a strand of my hair behind my ear.

My heart fluttered and I thought I might melt. I swallowed my mouthful and brushed the crumbs off my hands and pushed the plate back towards him. Finnick smiled and put the plate in the sink. "You never told me what your beta and deltas names are." I suddenly realized.

Finnick glanced at me over his shoulder "My beta's name is Cody, the delta's name is Austin. I'm sorry they kidnapped you by the way. I didn't tell them to do that. I was planning on staying in Oregon to court you."

"They did what they they thought would make you happy. You're their alpha, isn't that what they're supposed to do?" I shrugged "Besides, you can court me here, where ever 'here' is and I'll have more incentive to give you the time of day."

Finnick grinned "Challenge excepted."
