Chapter Nine

Once I arrived, I saw Amber standing with Brit. Why did she have to bring her.

"Hey Em!'', Brit called out.

Em? Since when does she call me by my nickname? Not so long ago, she called me 'dumb head'!

"Um... Hey.'', I waved awkwardly.

"Oh my gosh, that shirt is like totally cute!'', Brit added pointing at my shirt.

I looked down. It was a turquoise shirt with a white peace sign on it. It was really weird to get a compliment from my enemy.

"Totally.'', approved Amber.

"Thanks girls.", I blushed.

We did a few shops. We had fun. At first it was awkward to laugh with Brit and Amber. With Amber, it was like old times. With Brit, it was let's say shocking. She isn't as bad as I thought. Maybe I underestimated her. At least I finished the project we had to do together in time...

"Let's go to the jewelry store.'', Brit suggested as we got out of Hot Topic.

"Sure.'', I smiled.

We entered the store. Everything there was gorgeous!

The only problem is that I didn't have enough money for all this expensive jewelry.

"I'm buying this ring.'', Amber pointed at a silver ring with a heart on it.

"I'm buying these earrings.'', Brit added showing us the earrings she liked. "What about you Em?''

"It's amazing here but I'll skip my turn.'', I smiled weakly.

"Awwwwww, come on!", Amber pleaded.

"At least show us the ones you like!", continued Brittney.

"Well...", I started.

I started walking towards the display.

"Those ones", I said carefully, pointing to a pair of diamond earrings.

They were really pretty. The only problem was of course, the heavy price tag.

"Ohhhhhhh! They're so pretty!", crooned Brit.

"You should so get them!", exclaimed Amber.

"I don't think so. My parents would kill me if I spent that much money on a pair of earrings!", I said.

Just then, a lady walked up to us. She must have worked there.

"Would you girls like to buy anything?", she asked sweetly.

"Ummm, yes.", said Brittney.

"I would like these earrings over here", she pointed at the case holding the earrings she wanted.

"Of course", said the lady. "And what about you?" she turned and looked at me and Amber.

"I would like this ring over here.", she answered pointing to the locked display case that her ring shared with my earrings.

"Alright", the lady said. "If you want anything, just come and ask, I'll be at the cash because we are two employees short.", she nodded in my direction and made her way to the cash register with Brittney.

To my surprise Amber stayed back. She was looking inside the display case at the earrings I wanted. She suddenly turned around and said,

"My, I am glad she's gone!", she said nodding towards Brit. "Are you sure you don't want these earrings? They're real good quality!"
