"I had fun." I smiled up at Harry, who was towering over me by my front door.
"Definitely worth staying up until 3."
"Yeah..read that book and tell me how it is."
He took a step closer to me, so close to where I could feel his hot breath. I took a step back but found myself pressed against the door, "And you read the book I gave you and let me know how it is."
"Will do. Well, goodbye Harry." I tried to turn around and open the door but as it cracked open, Harry put a hand on it and pushed it back shut. I turned around and looked at him with a puzzled expression.
He bent down and tickled my ear with his lips as he whispered, "Hang out soon, and when we do I expect to see you wearing my - your necklace." He then turned his back but not before giving me a smirk and then disappeared off my porch and into his car as he drove away.
I sighed and placed my hand over the new airplane pendant that now hung loosely over my chest. I had one of the best nights in a long time tonight. It's weird how much a person can do for you over the fact that they just want to see you happy. And I have this feeling that I want them to be happy as well. I'd do anything just to keep that crooked smile on Harry's face. It now dawned on me that people actually care about me as a person. And they actually like me, maybe they don't have a clue about the whole situation I'm in, but if they care about me just as "Kennedy" would they still look at me that way if they knew? Or would they see me as "Kennedy, the girl with a brain tumor"?
I creaked open the door as quietly as I could, I didn't want to wake anyone up. The T.V. was still buzzing silently so I figured Beck was asleep on the couch. I went to turn off the T,V. on my tip toes in attempt not to wake her when all the sudden Beck shot up.
"Hey, I was watching that!" She half yelled, wiping the sleep from her eyes.
I jumped a bit, "Whoa, what are you doing up?"
"I think the better question here is what are YOU doing up? Did your boo thang steal your flower?" She wiggled her eye brows.
"No one stole my flower and he is NOT my boo thang. We were just at a library." I sat down beside her and pulled the blanket she had over top of her over my legs.
"He's your magic muffin."
"No."
"Your cutie patooty."
"NO."
"He gave you his necklace."
"NO BEC-well actually yes, yes he did."
"AW SO HE IS YOUR CUTIE PATOOTY!"
"You know what Beck, why are you still here? Weren't you supposed to leave like 2 weeks ago?" I finally asked.
She stared at me, her big blue eyes blinked rapidly, "Huh..you caught me."
"I..caught you..?"
"I wasn't just coming down for 3 weeks. Well, I was. But not just for your birthday. I got accepted into Oxford."
My jaw dropped, "Oxford? Holy cow."
"I was gonna tell you sooner, but I loved staying at your place and I didn't want you to kick me out to my new dorm so I didn't tell you so I could stay here a bit longer until school started up. Sorry."
"YOU GOT ACCEPTED INTO OXFORD. THAT'S CRAZY. That's like the number one school in the world! YOU SMART ASS. Why don't you move into your dorm? We can make it all cute." I was in complete shock she got into Oxford. That was my dream school until I decided to move away. She never struck me as the Oxford girl, being you know, so Beck. But I couldn't contain my excitement for her. I didn't mind her staying at my place but I wanted her to move into her dorm so we could decorate it because I've always loved making a plain looking place into a masterpiece. It seemed like so much fun to me.
