CONNER'S P.O.V

I unwillingly got out of bed to get dressed for school. First I went to knock on Cassie's door to wake her up; no matter how many alarm she sets she never wakes up. I swear she sleeps like a log. I knocked...well thats a little too subtle, I banged on her door yelling at her to wake up. Since I just woke up myself, my voice sounded a bit raspy and hoarse. I choked on the air as I kept calling for her to wake up. Soon after I heard footsteps approaching the door.

"I heard you the first time" she said and walked back into the room. Thats kind of strange, normally she would take her pillow on her walk to the door and smack me with it while uttering some curse words. I'm not saying that I welcome that behavior so early in the morning, its just not her usual self. I've noticed that recently she's gotten a bit..um how do I put it? Soft? I dont know exactly. I just know that this is not her usual self. She was never like this. She was always sympathetic but whenever she shows that side it would always seem sarcastic, she curses alot, she also acts like a total bitch; doesn't really matter where, but now she's not like that. I kinda preferred that side of her because then I knew that she was genuine. She wasn't someone who recently developed an unwanted personality...This isn't her.

As I was walking back to my room I glanced at my calender and noticed that exams starts next week. Fuck! It's May already? I'm even more unwilling to go to school now! All there will be is teachers nagging, teachers trying to teach us the whole curriculum in one day, and last but not least, boring review. I let out a sarcastic snort and whispered to myself "Can't wait!"

"Can't wait for what what hunny?" my moms untimely appearance popped up at the door to the bathroom that I was going to eventually take a shower in. Too late now, now I have to go downstairs. Damnit!

"Dont you have a bathroom on your floor?" I asked not really wanting to anticipate the dreaded walk down the stairs and back.

"What got you so grumpy so early in the morning" she said while shrugging. "I just wanted to tell you that your wonderfully loving mother is making breakfast so today you and Cassie can have a decent breakfast before going to school. Only God knows what you kids eat while i'm not here" she said with a look that chills went up her spine. Hmph! Such a narcissist, at least we ate something....sometimes.

"Shoo, Shoo, out, out! I gotta shower" I pushed her out of the bathroom successfully and closed the door without her having any time to react. I took a long enough shower and got out to see Cassie standing at the door looking dazed. "Knock, Knock" I said while knocking on her forehead. She shot her head up to glare at me. She was going to say something when her phone vibrated. She looked at it and smiled, must be Danny. Lucky Bastard! I walked past her and went to get dressed before heading done stairs. When I got downstairs mom was just finishing scrambling the eggs.

"Smells delish! I said while walking into the kitchen"

"You still haven't given me my good morning kiss as yet" she said trying to look stern "Do you think you're all grown up so you dont have to kiss mommy anymore?" she said while pointing to her cheek and waiting for a kiss. I walked up to her and smile. She never changes, even when she's a grandma she will probably be expexting these."How comes you're so early this morning?" she says while looking at me confused.

"What are you talking about it's atleast 6 am now" I said while looking at her confused.

"No its 5 am... VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING" she said as-a-matter-of-factly while pointing to the clock behind me. Fuck! I set the alarm for the wrong time. Sigh, I guess i'll watch looney toons until its time to go. Its even more strange that Cassie didn't protest even after probably looking at the time. I honestly hope its not something serious. "Is Dad home?" I asked. He is rarely home since he is always busy with his job. But we are not that stereotypical disfunctional family, dad always tries to find time to spend with us. It ranges from taking vacation from his job to plan a litttle mini vacation for all four of us to calling in sick so that he can spend the day with us. No matter what it is he always tries to make it, whether it be for a game, talent show or whatever.
