The next morning, Chris woke up to Sydney crying. He went to get up, but Darren stopped him.
"I've got her, babe. You go back to sleep," he said.
Chris wanted to protest, but decided against it. Boy, was he glad he had a husband like Darren. He laid his head back down on the pillow and drifted back to sleep.
*Sydney's bedroom*
Darren walked in to a very upset Sydney. Her nose was running and her eyes were all puffy from crying. Darren went over to her crib and picked her up.
"Come here, honey," he cooed.
He checked her diaper. She didn't need changing. He grabbed her paci from her crib and dabbed it around her mouth. She didn't accept it and she didn't try and chase it. Darren sighed. Maybe Sydney was just really tired.
He grabbed her blanket and sat down with her in the rocking chair. He started rocking her and humming 'You Are My Sunshine'. She quieted down and looked up at Darren. He smiled and continued humming.
Sydney's eyes started getting heavier and heavier until she couldn't keep them open anymore. She finally fell asleep. Darren stood up and gently placed her back in her crib. He smiled. He walked out of Sydney's room and went back to his. Chris had fallen back asleep. Darren gently kissed his head and covered up, falling back asleep.
