Ethan's POV:
"Father, why would you even think about giving the family business to Dylan? He is a incompetent little weasel, who does not know the meaning or value of family!" I shouted into the phone.
My paused for a few seconds before sighing into the phone, " Son I understand that your brother can be bit cruel and moronic, but he is married and has given me two beautiful grandchildren...plus he actually comes over for the holidays and just to see us. I have not seen you in person in almost five years. Did you forget where you came from son? Did you forget about your family, who was behind you and supporting you every step of the way?"
"I am so sorry father, but I just can't. Not after what they did."
"Listen Ethan, I know that you are still hurt about what happened. But, please try to leave the past in the past and come see your family. Your mother and I are not getting any younger." he begged
I stayed silent refusing to speak.
"Look, I can trust Dylan to put the firm ahead of all his other endeavors and I know that he will build to higher heights all while maintaining a family basis for his clients. As well as, keeping our employees satisfied by working around family adventures. Listen son, you don't have a family of your own yet and you don't understand the importance of family."
I take a moment to think 'you don't understand the importance of family'. Maybe my father is right. I took them for granted. I let Dylan drive me away from the only people who have ever truly loved me.
"Actually father, I do understand. I had been meaning to tell you for years. But, I couldn't figure out how to put it into the right words." Oh lord Ethan, please don't say anything to stupid. "I am actually married. My wife is excited to meet everyone and we just couldn't wait to give you all the good news." I rambled before my brain could get control over my mouth again.
"Your wife!" my father screeched "son, yourself and my daughter-in-law must come for Christmas I refuse to allow you to worm your way out of this one. I want you both at the house next month."
'What have I gotten myself into?'
"Now what was this good news you were going to tell us?" he asked
I paused, "She's pregnant"
