Aderyn's mother, Deanne Lee Holly's apartment
11:58 P.M. One week before school starts (Past)
Aderyn Preastley Reed's POV
"Aderyn!" The disrupting shrill dreadfully pounded its way to my ear drums.
"Yes Deanne?" I answered hoping I could quickly return to my room preparations.
"Come here, darling." She called me from my comfortable cross-legged position and to the living room.
Walking through the short hallway wondering what on earth could be so important to stop me from my work at nearly twelve o'clock at night.
"Yes?" My curiosity getting the better of me.
"I have good news." The tall slender women smiled with shining green eyes. Wine glass in hand
"What is it?" I drew out my words not enjoying the guessing game.
"Well our new neighbor."
Deanne paused for suspense"4c?" I answered her undictated question connecting the dots.
"Well I heard from Sara that his name is Mr. Wright and he's a substitute at school!"
Sara from 2b could weasel information out of anyone, that was the way she was, the only problem presenting itself was wether or not that information was reliable or not.
"What subject dose he teach?" I inquired
"English!" Deanne nearly shouted out of excitement "he could tutor you, English had never been your strong hold."
Knowing first hand I couldn't argue with the extra help in the lacking subject I smiled, bringing one side of my closed mouth up and raising both shoulders cocking an eyebrow. It was my awkward shrug.
"Oh missy don't give me that, and get to bed soon. You need to get into a sleeping routine for school in what, six days! and Mr. wright will be moving in tomorrow. We can wake up early and bake him cookies!"
Inside I knew I couldn't argue with Deanne and her cookies. cookies were her battle ground In the midst of a war zone. anytime she needed to persuade or impresse someone she baked homemade cookies, it was handy and annoying.
"Yeah, okay. ermm...I'm almost done with my latest painting for my room." I continued bargaining, "Can I stay up tonight and finish it? ill start getting to bed on a regular basis tomorrow."
"Only tonight. it's not healthy what your doing. everyday you work late Into the night and wake up early to finish what you couldn't. I don't see how you can be so passionate."
"I just, I don't know. It's something to look forward to." I awkwardly shrugged again.
"Alright, hurry and finish up. I'm going to thaw out butter for tomorrow's cookies. Good night, darling."
"Night Deanne."
