School Grounds-Last Day Of School

2:51 P.M. (Present Time)

Aderyn Preastley Reed's POV

A soft 'ring' filled my ears disrupting my panicked thoughts. This of course was quickly followed many shouts and screams of immature classmates filling the halls, their eagerness getting the better of them. The last day of high school had come to a close. Many in my class would start college.

I swiftly gathered my things and quietly started out the door. Stopping I looked back at the already bare room, yet it wasn't the room I was staring at. Mr. Wright standing In front of his desk in the far left hand corner. He was sharing my gaze, silently questioning me if I'd back up my harsh words.

"Thank You" is all I could say confirming his suspicion.

"Goodbye" was the barely audible reply I received back.

I knew we would never see each other again, never talk, never share these innocent moments with each other. I was just fine with that. All he had taught me, given me, showed me. It just wasn't right to stay together-so today it ends.

Emptying my locker I gathered my things and left searching for my friend, Brady. Walking past people exchanging numbers and signing year books still in a haze.

"Hey, girl! Ya'll ready for this? I'm about ready to burn rubber getting out of this hell hole." Brady motioned to this 'hell hole', the school. Before opening the passenger door to his vehicle for me to climb in.

I simply shrugged not in the mood for his boyish immaturity.

"What's got your panties in a wuad? Tampon problems? I got some in the glove box if its that bad."

Smiling I rolled my eyes knowing no matter what clouded my mind Brady could always make me smirk.

"No, Dork I'm not in the need of a tampon, and if I was you know I crave toaster strudels."

Brady chuckled at my response "How could I forget? you eat all of mine when your on your cycle."

"Yeah..." I peered out of the window at the dying grass with a yellowish tint showing through. The rumbling hum of the engine filled my ears as the vibrations seeped through the floor boards teasing my feet and leaving a tingling feeling in my knees.

"Seriously." Brady disrupted my thoughts after a few minuets of silence. Sneaking me a few glances he nervously tearing his eyes away from the road for a few seconds. "What's wrong? You've been acting strange ever since the start of this year."

Knowing I could never explain to Brady how the most unsuspecting person stole my heart and how it was he at first rejected the idea of 'Us', I shrugged my shrug replying "Jus' worried about how returning to the academy will go over with Deanne."

"You know she thinks the world of you." Brady surprised me with his actual serious demeanor.

"Yeah..I guess" My voice died away, looking back out the window at the passing yellow lines separating Brady's car and the one in the next lane.

"Honestly, You know my paren-My dad...That's not love, hell what is?" I squirmed uncomfortably knowing I had a taste of what love was "What I'm getting at is Deanne loves you. she'll support you."

"Yeah...maybe" I lamely counteracted his last proposal.

"Okay. Adreyn Preastley Reed, your going to tell me what wrong. I tried of dancing around the edges, and pretending everything is fine...We used to be the best of friends and now its like your keeping something from me. Why can't you tell me? Please I want to help." Brady dangerously swerved and maneuvered his vehicle into an old abandoned lot. I was surprised by Brady's assertiveness, more so on how long he knew something was going on.
