Chapter 7

As soon as I got home I ran upstairs, down the hall to the end, to the left a few steps, and ran towards my bed and landed with a ‘plop.’ I took my backpack off and sighed, looking up at the ceiling. I had placed a Justin Bieber picture on the ceiling. I thought a little bit and got up on my bed. I reached for the picture but it was pretty far up there. I jumped and reached for it but only skimmed it.

I got down from my bed and went to the other side of the room. I made a running start and when I reached the bed I jumped, grabbed the poster, and slammed my face into the wall. I fell back on my bed, just missing the backboard.

I heard my mom run up the stairs and into my room. “Are you okay? What happened?” My mom didn’t know about the picture, because I made sure to say goodnight to her outside my bedroom and I offered to take my laundry up myself.

“Oh I was just jumping on the bed,” I said casually. It technically WAS the truth. My mom gave me a blank stare, “Well don’t be jumping on the bed. We’re on the second floor.”

I sighed when I heard the back stairway door slam and heard my mom turn the TV on below me. I crumpled up the Justin Bieber poster and threw it in the garbage by my bed. I leaned back on my bed and fell asleep until around 6:30. Of course I was dreaming about Alex. Who else? At 6:30 my mom called me down for dinner. We were having macaroni and cheese, hotdogs, and cosmic brownies for desert. I sat down in my usual spot, across from my little brother and next to my older sister. My mom was to my left, she was sitting at the end. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers. I’m the 2nd youngest.

“So how was YOUR day Maddy?” my oldest brother, Michael, asked. I sighed, “Shut up.”

“Well mine was AMAZING,” my younger brother Timmy said. “Oh yeah, what happened?” My oldest sister, Jennifer asked. We call her Jenny. “I was picked first for kickball. AGAIN!” Timmy said, leaning into the table with food falling out of his mouth.

My mom smiled, “That’s great honey!” She wiped his face with a napkin. “Can I have my brownie now?” Timmy said. He had a spoonful of peas left on his plate. “Sure, but wash up when you’re done.”

I had a few peas left but I wanted a brownie, “Can I have mine?” I asked. “Finish your peas,” my mom said. “But I have less than Timmy did!” I shouted.

“Finish your peas.” My dad said from the other end of the table. Timmy got away with everything. I ate a few peas and when  mom looked away, I used my sister as a shield so my dad wouldn’t see and I fed the last to my dog.

“Now?” I said smiling. “Sure, and when you rinse off your plate, can you do Timmy’s?”

I stared at my mom, “Mom!”

“Do what your mother says,” My dad said without any emotion. I rolled my eyes and picked up his plate. I walked into the kitchen and washed off my plate. Then I washed Timmy’s. His took me awhile because he left part of his lollipop on the plate. Then my sisters and brother came in and mom made me do their plates too. By the time I was done it was 8:00.

I walked over to the kitchen counter and stuck my hand in the brownie box. It was empty. I sighed and threw it out. I walked into the pantry and picked up one of Timmy’s lollipops. Well… he did kind of owe me. I shrugged and picked up the last one. I ran up the back stairway and into the bathroom. I poured water in my hands and splashed it in my face. Then I brushed my teeth. I changed into my pajamas and went to bed.

I stared at the ceiling. It seemed so much different without that poster there. I turned and looked at the garbage can by my bed. It was all crumpled up and ripped. I really didn’t need him when I have Alex.

I was interrupted mid thought. “But mommmm!” Timmy screamed at the top of his lungs. He has the bedroom across the hall from mine. It was going to be a long night. “Can I watch TV for 30 more minutes? Puh-leaze!”

“Alright, is your homework done?” mom asked. “Uhh. No?” Timmy said, questioning his own answer. That means it wasn’t. “Alright, we’ll do it in the morning.” Mom sighed. Timmy turned on his flat screen. I looked at the end of my bed to where my old TV was. It was in Timmy’s room now. His TV was turned up full blast. “Timmy, can you turn it down?” I yelled. “No!” He said.

Well it’s a good thing I had my nap.  I turned on my alarm clock and turned over. I ignored the whole season of power rangers playing in the other room. After a few minutes I fell asleep.

‘Maddy!’ I heard Alex say, ‘I missed you.’ I smiled, ‘I missed you too.’ ‘I want to be together forever!’ He said, holding my hand.

He leaned in to kiss me and Party Rock by LMFAO started playing. ‘What’s that?’ I asked. ‘What’s what?’ He asked. ‘That music?’ I asked, worried.

The music got so loud that I couldn’t hear him. ‘What’s happening?’ I screamed.

“AHHHHH!” I screamed. I woke up from my nightmare and sat up, drenched in sweat. I fell back on my bed and sighed. I turned and looked at my alarm clock which was blasting Party Rock in my ear. I hit the button and got up.

Since I went to a private school, picking out my clothes was easy. I picked up and yellow polo shirt and brown shorts with a black sweater. I picked out some really cute plaid socks and some underwear. I carried my clothes to the bathroom and grabbed a towel. I turned the shower on, undressed and went to the bathroom, and then I got in the shower. I rinsed off the night and put some shampoo in my hand. I rubbed it in my hair. It rinsed out easy and I put in some conditioner.

The conditioner smelled like apples. I put on a body wash that smelled like grapes. ‘Wow I’m going to smell amazing.’ I thought to myself. I turned the shower off and dried off. I put on my clothes and some deodorant and went into my parent’s bedroom. I clicked on Google Chrome which I had renamed “Pretty Pony Unicorns.”

I’d been thinking about my dream lately, so I typed in “What does it mean when you dream of someone you know?”

None of the items matched what I was thinking of so I made my own story a dream site. I described my dream and hit enter. ‘Your question will be answered in a few hours. Please check back soon!’

“Great…” I said upset. I wanted an answer now. “Kids! Breakfast!” Mom yelled.

I exited out and went downstairs. I had to wake Timmy on the way. I went to the dining room and sat in my spot. Orange juice, bacon, and eggs. ‘Sounds good.’ I thought to myself. I finished it all and ran upstairs to dry my hair. It didn’t take long and I went to pack my backpack. I had everything packed up when my mom called for me.

I went downstairs, got in the car, and went to the back. Ashley my older sister sat to my right and Timmy in front of me.

We backed up and went to Timmy’s school. He’s 8, so we dropped him off at his Elementary school.

Then we drove to Wahlert, where we dropped off my sisters and my oldest brother. It was just me and my mom in the car and she drove through the parking lot to Mazzuchelli.

“Have a good day at school honey!” my mom said out the window. I blushed and walked in with Kaitlyn, who showed up behind me.

“You ready for school today, Maddy?” she asked.

            “Yep! You?” I asked.

            “As ready as possible.”
