I put my backpack in the closet and head to my room. On the way there I pass Sara's room who is now five years old. I head to my room and once inside, I close the door. I sit at my desk and pull out my journal. I'm not the kind of person that wrights depressing stuff about how their life is now. I just draw or wright things that happened that day.

Mom calls me down to eat and once finished with the fruit salad she made, I get ready for bed. As I get ready into bed I hear dad get home and I get jump out of bed. I hurtle down the steps and great him with a bear hug." I can't believe you were able to make it home today! You said that you would be back tomorrow!" I say as he chuckles and brings a bag from behind his back." You know how you wanted that apocalypse survival set?" He says with a grin." Did you really get it? It was so expensive! I say as I examine the box. I scan the words on the back about what's inside.

* fingerless gloves
* camping/survival set
* gadget belt
* first aid.
* heavy duty flashlight
* lighter
* tent

Ever since I was four I was into survival/ apocalypse kind of things. So now I know how to deal with any survival situation. I saw this kit in the mall with my. Mom and dad and I practically begged for them to buy it for me. That was a month and due to my dad's he wasn't here besides that one day. He said that he would come back tomorrow but he's early I guess.

I run upstairs and turn on the lights in my room. I open the box and look through the stuff. The fingerless gloves are made of a thick fabric and are a dark brown. I look through the rest of the things and then put it away. I turn off the lights and get into bed.

I open my eyes and see pitch black. What time is it? 12:00? Why did I wake up? I usually sleep all night. I hear a click by my window and see a shadowy figure on my windowsill. I close my eyes and pretend to sleep. Then a gruff voice says.
"Should we kill her now?"" No, save her for last. I want to make sure the parents can't bother us." A different. Softer voice says. Their feet hit the soft carpet and walk through my room. One pauses at my bed." How much do you think she sleep through?" He says and then walks out into the hallway.

Once I hear the door shut I start to breath again. My mind races with options of what to do. Do I get up and try to stop them? Do I run? A bang rings in my ears and me heart speeds up as I hear Sara start to cry. Another bang and everything goes silently. Then my mother's scream fills my heart with pain. My limbs freeze as I hear their footsteps coming back to my door. A click is all that is heard before a dark chuckle." She's still sleeping? Is she deaf?" One says and prepares the gun. He shoots and a burst of pain blossoms in the front of my right shoulder and blood leeks through my T-shirt." There, now the job is done. Come on. Let's go before he yells at us for being late."
