Sleepless

My eyes flash open as I try to sit up. My heart races in my chest as I run a hand through my hair or al least try to. I look down and see a IV poking through the back of my hand. Memories dart across me mind as I close my eyes. I quickly open them before I see the blood and my parents faces pale in the moonlight. I take a shuddering breath before looking down at my shoulder were thick gauze wraps the gun shot. I'm dressed in one of the crappy little dresses that they give you at the doctors. I look to my left and see two chairs and a bag in one of them. To my right is a window that overlooks the parking lot. A bird flys by as I stare out in the distance. A ambulance pulls into the parking lot at full speed. I tear my gaze from the window as a doctor walks in with a clipboard in his hand." Hi, I'm Dr. Wils. I'm your doctor. Do you have any pain anywhere?" He says as he sits in one of the chairs." No." I say flatly. His glasses slide down the bridge of his nose as he writes something down. I can see a bald spot on the back of his hair that he was trying to cover up. His brown hair is a tad greasy and messy." Alright, well if you have any questions or concerns just press the red button on the remote." He says." How long do I have to stay here for?" I say looking directly at him. He sighs and chuckles." Until somebody picks you up I suppose." At first I think of mom and dad coming to save me from this horrible place but then I remember that their gone along with Sarah. I try to hold the tears that threaten to overflow. He takes notice and quickly leaves. Jerk.

I cry for what feels like an hour until I could actually take a normal breath. I probably sound like a mental patient. Great, no one will come in here without handcuffs most likely. I sigh and take a tissue from its box and wipe my nose and then toss it in the trash next to the bed. The sun is starting to go down and I've been sitting in bed all day. The nurse ,that I now know is named Britney, had to come in and change my IV twice today and she said that she will have to check it once more today. I'm getting tired of counting the dots on the ceiling so I decide to count how many cars I see outside.

By the time Britney comes in I was up to 111 cars and still counting." Your getting bored aren't you. I'll see if I can do anything about that tomorrow." She says as she replaces the bag on the stand. I smile and say thank you as she leaves. She smiles and walks out. Hopefully I don't have to stay here too long. The sun is now on
Y showing halfway and the Skye is a light orange and the clouds a bright pink. I stare at it until it completely  and replaced by stars. I spot the Big Dipper and Little Dipper but can't see anymore. My eyes start to shut and once completely shut a vision of a bloody gun appears. I open my eyes and keep them open. I'm afraid to sleep because of those stupid murderers. I sigh and continue to stare at the stars and every time my eyes close and a vision passes pass my eyelids I pinch myself to stay awake. I keep this up until the sky starts to lighten and the stars fade away. I bet I have dark bags under my eyes, hair is a mess and I look like a hobo. Well that was a great night in my temporary home.
