Weather near or far

Phil stood quietly, tears trickling down his cheeks as his eyes bore into his father's grave. He shivered as a gust of wind ruffled his black hair, and turned heading back toward his village. He was twenty-four, he should of been married, not mourning the only person who would ever care about him.

" Stay away from that man, he's a witch." Whispers a man to his daughter as Phil walks toward his house.

Phil was not a witch, he was the child of a goddess. Nemesis, goddess of revenge. He had powers, deadly powers, all linked to punishment and revenge. Phil hated it, he hadn't used any of his powers since he was fifteen, but that didn't stop the village from out casting him. He had never wanted to hurt a fly, but his very blood thrummed with a killing instinct.

I am always yours

Phil stood with the rest of the people of the village, as the pack walked through the street like a silver parade. The pack was made entirely of women of varying ages, draped in furs, silver bows hanging off their muscled shoulders. At the front of the pack, a young lady led the group. Her skin was pale, her long dark hair braided with silver. Her eyes landed on Phil and he knew she was not a fourteen year old girl, none of the women were, they were the Huntresses of Artemis, and the girl at the front of the group, was the goddess herself, Artemis.

A dull rattle of chains broke Phil's eye contact with Artemis, as he turned to look back. There stood a man of about twenty two years of age. Shaggy brown hair covered his dark eyes, his tan skin shone like bronze in the sweltering afternoon heat. Phil could clearly see that this boy was not mortal either. Perhaps he was another child of the gods.

" Son of Nemesis," the crowd gasped, as Artemis turned to address him " would you please escort us to our camp." It was not a question, but a command.

" Of course, Huntress." Phil stutters moving out of the crowd to escort the Eternal Maidens to their place of rest. His eyes land on the boy in chains, and for a moment, he thinks he sees the boy look back at him.

Any change in time

" Lady Artemis, may I ask a question?" Phil walks tentatively behind the goddess.

" What is your inquiry, Phillip?" Asks the maiden, starring strait ahead.

" They say you hate men, so why have you chosen me to escort you and your maidens?" Phil does not dare look at Artemis directly.

" I only hate men who are a threat to my huntresses and I, your interests lie with a different gender, I can sense it. May I question you, Phillip?" He can feel her eyes burrowing into him.

" I will answer anything you ask, Maiden." His heart thrums.

" Why does everyone here hate you?" She asks the question gently, as if she can feel Phil's pain.

" They think me a witch, rather than a child of Nemesis." Phil quietly averts his eyes.

" I think I may have a way out of this village for you." Excitement sparked in Phil's heart. " You can never join the Maidens, but you could do something of a much greater magnitude, if you were interested." The Goddess looked over her shoulder, eyes landing on the chained boy.

" I am very interested." Said Phil quickly.

" Do you see that young man in chains back there?" He nods his head as Artemis speaks. " He is the child of an ancient monster, the Lamia and the sun god, Apollo. Not only is he incredibly persuasive and evil by nature, he can see the future. The Gods are in agreement, this boy simply can not be allowed to live. I will be executing him once we reach our destination in a few weeks time, until then we need someone to keep him under control, as my Maiden's have grown rather tired of the job. If you keep hold of his chains for me, I will take you anywhere you want to go, at the end of our journey. You could be free, Phillip." Artemis smiles gently.
