The Docks (a Once Upon A Time Fan Fiction)

Chapter 13

Corey waited eagerly for Neal to put down the ladder so she could see her father. But as she waited her heart sank she expected him to lean over the railing eagerly and once she was on board give her a hug. But he was no where in sight. She scampered up the ladder. And waited for David, Snow, and Henry to follow. She looked around. the ship looked exactly the same. She smiled. Finally she would be with her Father. Nothing would tear them apart. She continued to wait for we father. She expected him to burst out of the Cabin door any second.... But he didn't. Then she saw Snow and Emma exchange nervous glances. Her heart sank. She tried to look strong but nothing worked.

"Where is he?" She asked Emma. Quietly.

"He jumped off the ship. He thought we were bringing him to see Rumpelstiltskin" Emma said her voice trailing off. Corey knew Emma was lying.... Or was she? Corey listened to the boat creak.

" Corey how about we go get some hot chocolate." Snow said. As they all filed of the ship but Corey stood frozen. Her feet wouldn't budge. She stood and listened to the way the boat creaked. A smile crossed her face.

" you lied!! He is on the ship!" Corey said with a laugh. She assumed her father was just playing a trick on her.

" wait how did you know?" Emma blurted out.

"I know what the boat sounds like when I'm the only one on it." Corey told her. Emma looked down nervously.

" Come out you ol' codfish" Corey called out with a laugh but there was no response from her father. Emma cringed poor Corey thought it was all a joke. But Emma knew Hook didn't want to be found. Corey turned to look at Emma who stood on the dock with everyone else.

"Where's he hiding?" Corey asked. Emma was panicked inside. Corey had caught her. Emma just shrugged and then stared at the ground shamefully.

"Wait? He doesn't want to be found..... Does he?" Corey asked quietly. Her eyes welled with tears. She didn't understand how he didn't want to see her. Was there something she did before she disappeared that upset him. She wiped her tears away. No way was she going to let him get away with this. She walked the length of the deck quietly listening. Snow, David, Emma and everyone else looks on from the docks. Finally Corey heard a satisfying creak. She tried to remember what room was below her. It was her bedroom! She jumped up and down on the deck of the ship hoping to let her father know she had found him. She made her way toward the door to the hall way. But as she tried to turn the doorknob she realized he had locked it. She put her ear to the door. And listened. She could hear him breathing on the other side of the door.

"Papa" She said loud enough for him to hear " I know you can her me. Please come out" her eyes began to well up with tears. She waited another minute before she said his name again the desperation clearly evident in her voice.

"Papa please?"
