Ruby handed Corey an apron. Corey took a deep breathe. She was going to work at Granny's diner for the first time. Corey smoothed the apron.
" you'll be taking tables one through five today" Ruby told her before she handed Corey a small notepad and pencil. Corey headed to table one. The person had a giant newspaper that covered their face.
"How can I help you?" Corey asked with a smile just like Ruby had instructed.
"Well love, I think I'll order two hot chocolates" the man said as he folded the news paper.
" Dad! What are you doing here!?" Her father smiled
"Now love, is that how you treat your customers?" He said with a laugh. "I would like one hot chocolate for me and one for the lovely lady who is serving me"
"You know my shift doesn't end for another two hours right?"
" what a pity. I guess you'll just have to wait on me for another two hours" Her Father said with a playful smirk. " I'm just kidding. i'll see you back at the ship" he said as he stood up and gave her a hug.
"Work hard my little pirate" he called as he walked out the door.
