Joe loved his kids to the moon and back, but today they made him want to tear his hair out.
Ruby had just turned 10 last week and with her change in age, came a change in her attitude. It also didn't help that his other 8 year old daughter Amethyst picked up on Patrick's sass.
"I told you Amme to not come into my room and touch my stuff." Ruby yelled at her sister.
"Well maybe you shouldn't leave your door open." Amme snapped right back.
The two had now been bickering for the past twenty minutes and Joe didn't know how much more he could handle. Just as Joe was about to separate the two of them by sending them to their rooms, Patrick walked through the front door.
"Daddy!" The two young ones cheered as they ran over to Patrick and gave him a huge hug.
"Hey you little buggers! How was your day?" He said.
"Amme was in my room again touching things." Ruby replied.
"Hey you ruined my favorite nail polish last week, I totally could have ruined something of yours." Amme sneered.
"Hey, you two need to stop arguing right now." Patrick said sternly. The two immediately ceased. "Now you two need to go pack a bag your grandpa David wants to spend the weekend with you. He's going to be here in ten minutes."
"YAY!" The two shouted. They jumped out of Patrick's arms and ran to their rooms.
Joe sat down on the couch and rubbed his temple with his thumb and index finger.
"Thank god you got home when you did. They were starting to give me a headache." Joe said to Patrick.
"Well we wouldn't want that now would we?" Patrick said softly while taking a place next to Joe. He then scooted closer and whispered into Joes ear. "We have the house to ourselves tonight and I had some ideas to what we can do."
A smile inched across Joes face. He liked this side of Patrick. He turned his head so he could look into Patrick's blue and green eyes.
Joe planted a soft kiss on Patrick and pulled away saying "I" then he kissed him again "can't" then one more kiss, only this one was a bit more passionate "wait."
The two were then interrupted by a small voice saying, "if you could not do that in front of me that would be great."
They turned to see the voice belonged to Amme. Patrick turned a bright shade of pink.
"Um... A-are you done packing Amme." Patrick asked his daughter.
"Duh." She said as she dropped her bag on the floor.
Joe pushed himself up off the sofa and walked over to the hallway.
"Ruby, you better hurry up your grandfather is going to be here any min...." He was interrupted by a car honking outside. "He's here." He called.
"I'm a comin" she called back. Not more than three seconds later Ruby came tearing down the hallway.
"You two have fun this weekend" Patrick called as two ran out to their grandpa's car.
"You too dad," Amme said.
Patrick turned his head to look at Joe with a wild smile. "Oh I will," and then Patrick closed the door.
