Donna's POV
It was just another day at the office. I woke up and headed to the station bright and early.
I sat behind my desk and plopped a donut into my mouth because, why not?
"Donna, there are some gentlemen here to see you," the secretary spoke.
"Send 'em in," I muffled as I swallowed the last few remains.
I continued typing on the keyboard until I heard the footsteps of dress shoes and ruffling of suits.
"Hey, Donna," Dean smiled.
"It's good to see you two boys," I smiled as I got up from my chair and gave them both a hug.
Sam was on the right so I got to him first. As soon as he let go, I knew Dean was next. He was just so damn cute I couldn't help myself. But c'mon, he's a hunter, and a good one too. What's a sheriff to that?
I reluctantly walked over and gave him a hug. His chest was so soft but so firm at the same time. His arms wrapped around me and quickly let go but it felt like an eternity.
"What brings you boys into town?" I asked trying to cover up the redness in my cheeks.
"We think we might have another case," Sam explains.
"Well of course, why else would you be here?" I gave a small laugh.
I gestured for them to sit down and I walked back over to my desk.
"We think there's a ghost in town," Dean explains.
"Well, do I look like Bill Murray to you? I joked.
No reaction. Yeah, of course Dean didn't like me.
"I'm sorry. Continue," I apologized.
"What do you know about Emi Ratte?" Sam asked.
I thought about it for a minute and then it hit me.
"She was in a car crash with her whole family a couple years ago. We found the crook who did it and he had two years in the slammer. You think Emi's ghost is the one who's doing it?" I explain.
"That would make sense. All the people she's killed were really reckless drivers. Over twenty tickets each, just got outta driving school too," Dean spoke up.
Ugh I just couldn't help myself. I could never focus when he was talking and it was a huge problem. He was attractive, what was I supposed to do?
"Well then, you find out where she's buried?" I asked.
"Look who's ahead of the game," Dean smirked.
God damn it. He wasn't even trying. Okay Donna, control yourself. It's just a little crush. It's not anything important. He doesn't even like you, why would he like you? It'll blow over by the time he leaves town. Get it together, Donna.
"No, but before we dig up the body we gotta make sure it's really her. You got the file for the case?" Dean continued.
"You betcha, follow me."
I led them to the room where we kept all the old cases. I opened the filing cabinet and pulled out her file.
"There ya go boys. Let me know if you need anything," I smile.
"You still got those donuts?" Dean asked.
I gave the boys a couple donuts for the road and they drove off in their vintage car.
I ran a hand through my hair and contemplated my life choices.
I should just try to forget about Dean. I'd be insane if I ever thought I had a chance with him.
I walked back inside and sat at my desk.
"Sheriff?" I looked up to see the deputy standing in my doorway.
"What's up?" I asked.
"You've been sitting there for twenty minutes, frozen like a statute. Is something wrong?" she asked.
Obviously I've been thinking about Dean but I'd never say that out loud.
"You know how easily distracted I get. Don't worry about it," I assured.
"Alright, well I'm gonna go home for the night if that's alright with you."
"Go ahead."
She left and I heard the door close behind her. I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding in. This boy was really getting to me, what was I supposed to do?
If I was going to tell him, how would I do it?
"Hey Dean, can I talk to you for a second? I think I have feelings for you."
No. I know I have feelings for him.
"Hey Deano—no."
Ugh, why was this so hard? I knew how I felt about him, so why couldn't I just come out and say it? It was because every time I saw those big green eyes and soft pink lips I'd just forget everything and I couldn't even focus.
There was a knock on my door. I walked over and opened it. I gasped before I said my greeting.
"Hey, Dean," I smiled.
"What's shaking?" he joked and I laughed.
Ugh, there he goes again. He's probably not even trying.
"Come inside," I invited and he sat down in the same chair as before.
"What's up? It's late," I said walking back over to my desk.
"Well I just wanted to thank you for what you did for me and Sam," he began.
"Oh, it's no big deal," I said.
There was a huge and extremely awkward silence after that.
"Dean, can I tell you something? Something weird, and might even scare you a bit."
"Donna, I just went after a ghost. I dug up a dead body, try to see if you can scare me," he laughed.
"Dean, I like you. I have real feelings for you and I'm so sorry I know you have bigger things to worry about and I'm just some sheriff in Minnesota and you're a guy who hunts monsters. I just needed to tell you," I took a huge breath after my rambling and waited for his answer.
"Donna, it's not crazy at all. You're a beautiful and intelligent women. You don't have to apologize for anything. Because I like you too."
I looked up into his eyes and couldn't see a trace of lies.
"Dean, that's—"
But before I could finish, he crashed his lips onto mine.
