Chapter 2.

"So," Andrew said, "You have to take some aptitude tests, but you also have boot camp. It lasts about six weeks, and it starts in three."

"Three what, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, or centuries?" I asked

"Week, duh," Andrew replied rolling his eyes. "For these three weeks, before training, you will get settled in here at campus and take your IQ tests. But, the first thing we have to do is set you up with a roommate."

"Roommate, why do I need a roommate?"

"Um, I don't know. Everyone has a perfect roommate though."

"Describe perfect."

"Same classes, same age group mostly, same gender, oh and they both come from the same family type situation."

I raised my eyebrows, "Yeah, that'll be super easy."

Andrew looked at me, "Actually, it will be. Now hurry up. I want you to meet Payton before dinner."

We walked into the elevator and Andrew pressed the 4th floor button. The elevator let out a Bing and stopped. We walked into the hallway and Andrew started to point out things.

"Behind that door is where you drop off and pick up laundry. The bag will have your name on it. After you get set up, you can go in there and pick up your uniforms.

"Oh, here's your room," Andrew said coming to a stop in front of a baby blue and brown door. He knocked twice.

"Come in!" called a girl from the other side. Andrew opened the door and ushered me in.

"Payton," Andrew said motioning towards me, "this is your new roommate Parker."

Payton had the curliest red hair. Her eyes were the color of melted chocolate. She sat on her bed reading the latest copy of some teen magazine and had a laptop blaring Fall Out Boy through the room.

"'Sup?" Payton asked.

I shrugged awkwardly and looked at Andrew for help. He was absolutely none at all.

"Kay, so you guys are getting along great," Andrew said awkwardly, "so, I'm just gonna duck out of here and go do my homework." Andrew closed the door behind him.

I started to say something but Payton held up her hand. I pressed on anyway, "Look, I'm not a person who easily trusts, and I really don't like people in general, so can we be roomies but not be friends?"

Payton nodded her red curls bouncing, "Yeah totally, I wasn't that much of a people person before I came here.

This struck me strange so I stored it for later use. "Well, okay. I'm gonna go get my uniform now," I said rushing out the door.

I entered the room Andrew had mentioned and looked around. Washing machines and dryers lined a wall and took up most of the middle of the room.

"Hola," said a dark skinned dark haired girl from in front of a dryer. "Venido a buscarsu ropa?"

"I'm sorry, but I don'tspeak Spanish."

The girl laughed. "I said: Come to pick up your clothes?"

I nodded, "Yes ma'am."

The girl laughed again, "My name is Brigida." She pointed towards some shelves, "Your clothes are in a bag over there." Her English was heavily accented, but hey, what could you do?

"Um, thanks." I hurried over and grabbed the bag with Parker Elizabeth printed on it.

I pointed towards the name.
