There were ten of us in total. After the first week in training our tight knit group of four extended to include the other trainees. We were forced to cooperate in order to gain anything.

"Parker," a small Asian girl hissed as I walked past her spot in a paint ball exercise. "Duck."

I ducked into the small alcove she was squatting in just as paint balls shot by.

"Jesus. That was close. Thanks um..."

"Hanna. And no problem. You helped me out on the obstacle course yesterday."

"Oh. Oh! Yeah I remember. Sorry I'm dreadful with names," I replied.

Hanna held up a hand as if to ward off my apology. "No need. To be honest the only reason I remember yours is because I wanted to kill you on that first day."

I blushed. Because I was late the other recruits were required to run laps and do push ups until I got to to the field. It seemed like I made a lot of people angry with me over some stupid pots and pans.

"Seems like everyone wants to kill me over that," I joked.

Hanna laughed.

I nodded once and rolled out of Hanna's hiding place. With a friendly salute I was off.

Later at supper in the mess hall, Hanna sat down beside me. She smiled politely at Peyton, Andrew, and Cody.

"Mind if I sit here?" She asked.

"A little to late to ask that don't you think," Cody grinned.

Peyton elbowed him. "Shut it," she whispered.

"There's actually enough room at one of these tables for all ten of us," I stated. "Why don't we invite the other recruits to join?"

Andrew nodded, "a team's gotta stick together."

So we all started to sit with one another. And we grew closer together. It made training easier to get through, but it in no way affected my standing with the others. It seemed my little prank still had people wanting to strangle me.

"I mean seriously Parker, we had to run for hours waiting on you!" Harry complained.

"It wasn't hours," Cody defended. "Besides you should've seen the look on the headmasters face!"

"If I remember correctly, Cody," Payton said, "you were to busy snoozing while trying to walk to catch a glance."

Andrew sighed. "It was fun though. To bad about the fall out."

Harry grumbled some more until Hanna threatened to stab him with her fork. Harry was one to hold grudges. I took note of it for future reference.

Harry was the sixth person to officially join our group. He was short in stature and complained endlessly about exercise. God forbid if you were ever teamed up with him, because the little bitch would leave you to do all the work and then have the audacity to complain about how you screwed everything up.

Now the other four weren't nearly as bad as Harry. And I actually enjoyed getting to know them. However, three weeks into training they had all failed out due to injuries or incapabilities to complete assignments.

So when the last week of training dawned upon us, the hardest of all the weeks, there stood only six.
