Only a Puppet

Once upon a time, there was a girl who was chosen as an offering for the water God, she agreed to this because of the promise she made to her mother when she was dying "protect the people of this village" she told her and the girl obediently listened and was put in a small boat and set out to sea, with beautiful jewelry and a dress of the best material made special for this occasion, she wipes off the makeup they put on her that made her look like a fricken chucky doll.
The waves took her in and she was swept up onto a shore that appeared from nowhere, she slowly rose from the water as a small but big for its size frog like creature waited for her on shore
"come this way" it croak and she followed in silence, they came to a big room with a water flowing staircase and the beautiful coral under the translucent floor, with water lilies resting on the surface.
She looked down as a small ball bounced past her, she kneels down and looks around for the owner, from the corner came a small boy, she handed him the ball with a smile but he just glared at her and ran away. She continued to wait there as the frog instructed before leaving, what seemed like an hour later, the frog comes waddling back
"alright, come this way" he leads her down a hall into a not very well lit room "this is her? Ha! Why do girls always wear makeup that's disgusting" he mumble the last part, it's the little boy from before, she bows "my greatest apologies kami-Sama", she wasn't wearing makeup.
She was lead to her room by a servant and she was told to get ready for bed, she has a separate room from the kami-Sama. She did as instructed, she lets her black hair down and runs her hands through her bangs and changes into a night gown that was presented to her, she couldn't sleep so she stood on the balcony, the big canopy was a bit too much for her, she was used to small bed so it didn't suit her.
As she stared out on the moon, she feels someone push her over as she closes her eyes feeling the impact and open them to see a man with black hair and ocean blue eyes looking down at her
"aren't you gonna take off your makeup? Your face will get old" he asks
"sorry, but I have already taken it off"
"really?"
"Yes, when I was on the way to this place, in the boat, I don't like the feeling of makeup, plus the old women did it, they put way too much on" he just stares at her like he wants to stay something but he has nothing to say.
"Do you mind getting off me?"
"Ah, sure" he gets up "thank you" she says pushing herself up. Emotionless. He thinks to himself, 'that's how I would describe her'.
They talked for a while as she sat on the ledge of the rail on the balcony, he looks at her to see her resting her head on the wall, sound asleep.
The next morning she wakes up in the large canopy and gets up to meet the kami for breakfast as instructed. She spend a lot of time with the kami learning more about him as the days go by, she already figured out that he and the man from the first night are the same person, but she doesn't tell anyone because she doesn't know if they want her to know. A goddess gets over obsessed over her and they have sleepovers and lots of 'fun' together, but really, the goddess hates her because she was with the water God, she knew that from the start but stayed quiet, and they started a game of truth or dare.
"I dare you, to jump off a cliff" the goddess tells her
"alright" she stands up and starts walking out
"huh? Are you serious?"
"Why not?" She heads toward the cliff and the goddess runs to get the water God, she jumps off just as both of them come running in from the distance
  "she... Jumped" then a weird looking creature flew out from behind the cliff and landed on the shore and a small figure jumped off it, they come closer and see that it was her and the weird creature was made of rocks, she was petting it as it turned it attention towards them, the girl turned to them perfectly unharmed. Who was saving her?
      The reason she was called was, the past girl disappeared, the water God loved her, and soon a girl appeared and it happened to be her and he was happy but couldn't send the main character, Sunako, home, that night when he was sleeping a dark shadow creeped up on him and he woke up to sound of someone talking
"I warn you, don't hurt him"
  "move or your dying with him"
"I shall not move" then there's the sound of someone getting stabbed
"you really had the guts... It's not like this is going to affect me"
"huh? Your normal, you just came here, what do you mean? Why aren't you dying!?"
  "Stop this instant, do as I say or I will end your life here and now, you will stop this at once and go back to normal got it?"
  "H-h-hai" then it goes quiet as he hears footsteps leave the room then someone gasp in pain
"it's really getting to me now... Sleep well, be happy" then they leave too, Sunako... Just saved me from the girl I love, he thought. The next morning he walks up to her pulls up her shirt to see a scar, she healed fast, where was the scar? Right where the heart is
  "hey..." He started
"you were awake weren't you?" She asks 
"you bet" he says giving her a glare
"I see..." She smiles then knocked him down and puts her hand over his eyes
"I want you to forget me" she says
"wai-"
"shhhh, quiet, shut your eyes, I never existed" when she removes her hand he's fasts asleep and she leaves leaving nothing behind, she comes back to her village and everyone was surprised to see her
  "kami-Sama let me go" she says then leaves to the place she loves most, the place where she came every year with her mother to watch the cherry blossoms bloom and fall onto the lake with water lilies, days passed and she didn't return to the village, she spent the time talking to herself, with the cherry blossom.
At the palace of kami-Sama, kami-sama had a feeling like something was missing, like he forgot something, it was important, something he didn't want to forget, he spent the days stressing over. The day came when he remembered... A girl... The girl that came... She told me to forget... Sunako. He travels to the village on his own and asks the towns folk where she is
      "Sunako? She's in her special place, she's been there for a couple of days now, she went there to talk to her mother, she used to says that memories hold the people in them too, and reliving that memory is nice, such a sweet girl, even though her mother was so cruel to her, she even went to the water God as sacrifice to keep the promise she made to her mom, I feel bad for how lonely that child has been"   "thank you" he says and then that person directs him to the place, he comes and he sees magic, but she's not there, a magic barrier, he walks in
     "I thought I told you to forget me" a voice comes from the Sakura tree and there stands on the branch, the maiden with her straight black locks and her blue eyes and a pink short, frilly kimono
      "how could I?" He laughs
      "how could you forget someone you love?" He looks up at her
    "what about 'girl from past'?"
   "What I felt for her wasn't love, more of a close friendship, I'll say it again..." Before she can stop him he says it "I love you" she jumps off the tree and land on top of him
   "really?" "Yeah" he smiles, and once again, that sweet smile comes across her face "I love you too"
The two gods lived happily together after.
