"I'm really serious Lexi!" I snapped to my best friend as we spoke onto the phone. I was already on the verge of tears. We've been speaking for the past half an hour but we weren't getting anywhere.

When Lexi heard me sniffing, she immediately stopped laughing "oh my god Scarlett, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to get you so worked up"

"then follow me go and get a pregnancy test!" I pleaded her.

Yes, I was asking my best friend to accompany me to buy a pregnancy test. My period was 5 weeks late and it's never been this late before. And I also usually get my period the same time as Lexi. I've been getting nauseous lately too but I kept thinking I was coming up with a flu or something even though I knew there was more behind this.

"urgh fine, you win. When do you want to go?" Lexi asked me, giving up finally.

I stopped wiping my watery eyes and smiled "erm... now?"

"now? but I'm still doing my homework" Lexi whined.

"yes now, and you can borrow my homework first thing tomorrow morning"

"no thanks, fine then, I'll be there in 10, bye"

"love you! bye!" I said before hanging up.

I went to my cupboard to look for something casual to wear. Finally I settled on my skinny jeans and pink tank top. I put on simple make-up and tied my hair into a ponytail. Once I was pleased with my appearance, I went downstairs.

Dad was sitting down reading his newspaper. He looked up when he saw me "where are you going hun?"

"I'm going to Lexi's, she needs help with her homework" I lied.

"well ok then" dad shrugged then continued to read his newspapers.

"Scarlett, do you want to take some food over to Lexi's?" mum asked from the kitchen.

"no that's ok mum. I'll be eating there" I answered.

Once my parents stop showering me with questions, I grabbed my purse and put on my sneakers before leaving my house. Lexi was already there waiting for me. I ran over to her and hugged her.

"come on, let's go... before my parents see you" I whispered, pulling her hand away.

She raised her eyebrows "what exactly did you say to them?"

"that I'm going to your house to help you with some homework," I giggled.

Lexi shooked her head but grinned. "so do you want to go to the doctor straight or buy a pregnancy test?" she asked after a moment.

We were standing and waiting for the bus at the bus-stop since both of us didn't have a car and I can't drive so there's no point in having one.

"I think I'll buy a pregnancy test first, I'm scared the doctors will inform my parents or anything" I said.

Lexi was quiet for a while before she spoke "I think it'd be better for you to go to the doctors straight. We can request them to not send messages or letters to your house. And you can maybe check up if the baby is ok... if you have one" Lexi chuckled lightly.

I ignored her last sentence and pondered over the rest. I knew going to the doctor would be much better. And they're results are more accurate. "ok then, I'll give the doctors a try"

Lexi nodded at me and we took the taxi to the nearest clinic. Since the clinic's much too far for us to take the bus, we decided a taxi would save time. Within 15 mins, we were already there. Lexi payed the fare and then we entered the clinic. It was quite empty execpt for 2 ladies and a little boy.
