"Here you are. Home sweet home, I guess. Uh, talk to you later...?" Adrian's dad backed away, leaving her alone. Adrian stood in what used to be her sister's bedroom. She threw all her suitcases against the floor and jumped on the bed. This would be her home. Adrian stifled a sob. She did not want to be here, but now that she had no mother, her only other option was an orphanage. She looked around at her room. The walls were all light yellow, there was Chippendale furniture everywhere, and a huge makeup mirror. The closet held thousands of designer dresses, skirts, tops, and shoes, and there was not a single book to be found. Not even a bible.
Adrian's father had enrolled her into Windsor Prep, something she was not looking forward to. There would be snotty rich girls and curious people asking You're Jessica's sister? How long did you know she was a killer? Did she try to kill you? Adrian shuddered. She didn't want to talk to this about anything. She just wanted to eat a whole jar of peanut butter with a spoon.
She checked her watch. 11:15. She should start getting ready for the funeral. Her mother's funeral. Pulling on black ballet flats, a short black dress, and her hair into a plain bun, Adrian sighed. She hadn't shaved her legs or washed her hair since that awful day. It had only been three days, but her brown curly hair was greasy and she felt a little more than stubbly.
Who could blame her for looking like hell? She lost her sister and her mother. Literally, she lost her sister.
A lot of people in Applewood presume her dead; the woods behind Adrian's old house were filled with snakes, coyotes, and other wild creatures. However, some believed Jessica was still alive; perhaps plotting revenge.
Adrian shook her head. This was the first tragedy the town had ever seen. Of course they'd go haywire and believe that Jessica was alive. Please. Jessica had the survival skills of a toaster.
Walking down the steps, Adrian noticed her father took down all the picutures of Jessica. Guess he didn't admire the bitch like he used to. Her father was still just a little cold to her, but Adrian figured he'd forget about it eventually. He was probably still trying to absorb his widdle princess becoming a physco bitch.
It was a silent ride to their mother's funeral. Her dad wore a simple suit and drove them in his sleek Sedan.
When they arrived, Adrian saw people she hardly remembered. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and other people she didn't keep in touch with. She saw her grandmother and grandfather; both wearing sad, sweet facial expressions.
It was a simple mass then drive to the cemetery. Adrian placed a rose on her mother's grave. Her mother, who was sweet, considerate, compassionate, funny, and generous. How could some monster do this?
Adrian looked up to the sky and smiled; her mother was probably with God by now. When she looked down, she saw an evil blonde girl, smiling demonically. She was covered in mud and blood and held a knife. She walked into the forest, a finger pressed to her lips. Adrian shook. What the hell? When she looked back, the girl was gone. Adrian exhaled. Lack of sleep probably led to hallucinations.

Once Adrian arrived back home, she plopped down on her bed. She hadn't begun to unpack, and frankly didn't want to. She realized she never did turn her phone back on. As soon as she did, a message popped up.
She had to go.
The number wasn't blocked. It was a number Adrian knew. Adrian started crying.
It was Jessica's number.
