CHAPTER 6
I stood against the wall whilst the boys glared at me in pure interest, as if my fear gave them great pride.
"So how are you doing, Harleigh?" Blake asked, stepping closer each word he spoke.
"Nice, I believe if you get any closer you're going to suffocate me." I said, referring to how close Blake was to me.
At that moment, Blake just chuckled, literally, he just laughed. The boys were staring at him as if he was nuts or something, while I took that moment as a chance to laugh.
They all began taking slow steps and grinning whilst they did it, as I remain calm and stared at them, not blinking once. Okay Har, just walk away like nothing happened.
"Well, I believe my mother needs help with setting up the food for bingo, I should flee now." I smiled before dragging myself out of Blake's grasp and walking down the steps, their eyes on my back.
I could feel the shock on their faces as I grinned and made my way towards bingo, where my mom was just arranging the nachos and lasagna for the women in her bingo crew.
"Where's everyone?" I asked, wondering why the boys and Vicky were here although their mothers were nowhere in sight.
"Just outside, glancing at those wonderful daisies you planted." My mother smiled before returning to dunking salsa and nachos onto plates and dropping a forkful of lasagna onto it.
My mother took one look at me before grinning evilly. "Want to help?"
At that right moment, I zoomed out of the kitchen and ran out to the patio, where Vicky and a couple of Bingo ladies were glancing at my flowers, whereas Vicky was selling 1 bouquet for 10 dollars. Where she got the vases, I did not know.
"Vicky, you shouldn't be selling the flowers that I planted." I complained, grabbing a bouquet out of her hand and handing it to the woman, no charge.
Vicky rolled her eyes and grunted. "You just ruined my sale, I've already collected 60 dollars from desperate gardeners!"
I smiled before zooming off towards the inside of the house, where my mother was handing out the bingo templates and passing out plates full of the meal she'd made for her bingo group.
Every Bingo, my mother would buy something expensive for the winner of bingo for the day. It would be some expensive blue tea cups, glass pots, even furniture. That's why my house was so nicely arranged. My mother was a sucker for furniture and utensils, if that's a proper name for cups and pots.
Sometimes, I enjoyed watching their games and watching angry ladies stomp out of my house in fury, all because they lost a single round. It would usually begin with Mrs.Hunter, our next-door neighbor who had absolutely no patience, whatsoever.
I heard a throat clear and everyone's attention turnt towards my mother. "Ladies, do not forget to get a lot of rest because tomorrow is the Annual Bingo Tournament against the Perth ladies."
The women began to speak but my mother cut them off. "Eat right, have a healthy breakfast, don't forget to feed your children, and be at the Sunrise Park by 10:00 am."
The ladies nodded before collecting their share of the bingo chips and starting the game while my mother was staring at them with the most annoyed look ever. She looked like she was about to begin screaming at them then remove them from the team.
"We also have to raise money for the van, so don't forget to sell the tea sets and chocolates I handed everyone. If you refuse to sell anything, don't keep the items and please return them back here." My mom smiled before gesturing them to begin.
In a matter of minutes, the ladies were screaming because most of them were losing and three of them have already left, full of fury. The sky was getting dark and the bingo game was finishing, the food was completely finished and there weren't leftovers for dinner tomorrow. That means I have to cook on my own. Ugh.
You know, It's really scary when you're home alone as a teenager. You could get raped while your parents are here, or even worse, kidnapped. Maybe Noah's crew would raid my house with Vicky and torture me while she was fangirling over Justin Bieber in my room.
Anyways, the bingo game finished and the ladies cleared the house while I persuaded my mother to push Noah's crew out of the house because I was feeling uncomfortable.
"Harleigh, they're your friends." My mom complained, rolling her eyes.
"Just seize them!" I yelled, using a line from those old medieval shows that my mom enjoyed watching.
With that, my mother set off to find Noah's crew while I climbed up the steps to my room because Vicky was there and I wanted to stop her from whatever evil she was doing. When I opened the door, Vicky was staring googly-eyed at my posters of Evan Peters, Hunter Parrish, Harry Styles, and Justin Bieber.
"Quit staring at my extremely h-o-t posters of my husbands will you?" I cried, banging my head on the nightstand.
"What's up with you?" Vicky asked, peeling her eyes away from the posters and staring at me.
"Well, I'm going to be soon killed by the crew and you're asking me why I'm worried?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
"Really, Blake isn't that scary once you get to know him." Vicky said, rolling her eyes and picking at her maroon-colored fingernails.
I rolled my eyes and took a moment to stare at the bird which would always knock himself against our window just for pure entertainment. I remember the first time he knocked himself and my mother totes freaked because she was like such an animal person.
The bird is probably psycho and needs to go to the animal rehab, which is actually a place here in Australia. My mother took my old dog there because he obviously needed rehab, he was seriously crazy. He died there anyways, so like, whatever.
"You know, you've been staring at my brother a lot lately." Vicky brought up, rather randomly.
"What do you mean?" I lied.
My best friend can NOT find out that I like her brother, that woud like ruin the whole meaning of our friendship.
"When we were at the pool, you were scared to go ask him for the car keys." Vicky stated, staring at me with her beady blue eyes that could hypnotize anyone.
I stood there for a moment while Vicky just stared at me, trying to read my eyes while I just stared down at the ground for what seemed like FOR EVER until she like screamed in the girly-fangirl way.
"OMG, you do!" She yelled.
