We run at blurring speed but as I watch the trees melt into each other, I notice that there are flashes of black and gray running along side us. I start to ask Ash what they are but she's ahead of me.

"They are sentries for the pack that rules this part of the state. We are technically trespassing, but we are just passing through. They won't bother us as long as we don't stop and don't break any rules."

"Well it's kinda creepy the way they are following us. All flashing in and out like that, are they real?" I ask curiously.

"Oh they are real and not to be messed with." Ash says "I have only had one run in with them, and it left a lasting impression." Ash shares the memory with me. I didn't know we could do that, I think surprised at the vivid image's now splash across my retinas.

She is in a cave, it's just after sunset or dusk I can't tell but she surrounded by five huge wolves. They are various shades of gray and black, their eyes are glowing blue, green, brown and yellow. The four wolves are motionless, but the fifth wolf is what has my attention. He is at least a head taller than the other wolves and his eyes are glowing silver, his coat is a blue black that seems to absorb the other colors around him. Through our link...this is going to take some getting use to, I think to myself... I know that this is Quinton. The alpha of this pack and judging by the growling and barred teeth, he's not happy with Ash.

"Who sent you!" He snarls at her.

"No one sir. I am alone." Ash says quietly, her head is bowed, eyes on the ground, her tail between her legs, as she crouches low, her neck exposed. She is completely submissive.

Quinton lunges for her throat and Ash just rolls over exposing her stomach as he clamps down hard. "You will leave my territory and never come back!" He snarls at her, then picks her up by her throat and throws her against the nearby trees. Ash let's out a painful yelp as her back hits the rough bark.

"Your not worth my energy! Your pathetic and worthless and not even worthy of being an omega." Quinton says as he stands over her crumpled body.

Ash makes herself as small as she can and makes little whimpering noises. "You don't even have the strength to take your vessel so you can be something. Run you coward, run and never come back!" With these last words he leaps into the air and bounds out of sight, the other wolves following him.

I can feel the pain, fear and humiliation that she is feeling in that moment as though it was my memory. It's pissing me off. I would like to give him some piece of my mind that arrogant, self righteous bast...

"Breanna!" Ash screams into my head. "We are going to need to out run and lose them. Something isn't right. They should have left us alone, we left Quinton's territory about a mile ago, but they are closing in on us."
