Brooke's POV
"Fucking shit," followed by a bunch or banging around was what woke me up.

I took in my surroundings and remembered that I was in Katy's room. The events of yesterday began to come back to me and I instantly just wanted to go back to bed and forget about it.

"Fucking fuck," I heard, this time followed by a bunch of beeping.

I instantly jumped out of bed and ran down a set of stairs that I hoped would bring me to wherever Katy was. I rounded a corner and walked into the kitchen to see Katy waving a towel in front the smoke detector with one hand and a pan of burnt food in the other.

"God, is this so complicated?" She muttered to herself, clearly not realizing that I was there.

"Well maybe it's because you didn't make the batter," I said, startling Katy. I walked over to the open box of Bisquick and noticed that she hadn't actually made the batter.

"What do you mean? Of course I did," she said, defensively as she opened the back door.

"No, you didn't. It should be wet. There's a recipe for it on the back. You just put the mix in a pan and cooked it," I said, raising my eyebrows and pointing to the instructions.

"Whatever," Katy mumbled. "I'm going to go clean myself up."

I chuckled and hopped onto a barstool as I watched Katy stomp down the hallway that I assumed led to the bathroom.

"Are those my shorts?" I heard a voice ask from behind me.

I instantly jumped up and turned around to see a short woman pointing at my bottoms.

"KAAATTTYYY," I yelled as I ran down the hallway she had walked down.

"What?!" A terrified Katy yelled as she ran out of the bathroom.

"There's a woman. I don't know who she is or how she got in, but she's in your kitchen," I panted.

"Oh my god. Come with me," Katy said, giggling and pulling me down the hallway.

"Katy, no. This is not funny. I'm not kidding," I whispered, trying to break away from Katy's grip.

We reached the kitchen to find the small woman bent in half, laughing.

"Brooke, meet Shannon. Shannon, meet Brooke," Katy said as she failed to stifle her giggles.

"Nice to meet you, kid," Shannon said. "People call me Shan, but you can call me Queen Shannon Marie."

I glanced over at Katy. Was she serious?

"Um okay. Nice to meet you Queen Shannon Marie," I hesitantly replied, provoking Katy and Shannon to burst into fits of laughter again.

"Nah, I'm just messing with you," she said once she finally calmed down.

"Brooke, Shannon's your godmother. Surprise!" Katy said as she began wiping the counters down.

"Oh," said, unsure of how to react.

"God, Shan. You scared the kid so much, she won't even talk," Katy giggled. "Anyways, I've murdered breakfast and it's almost noon so let's go to lunch and then go shopping. Luckily, my brother is in the area so he's going to come and fix up your room. We just have to pick stuff out. Sound good?"

I nodded and began to go upstairs to get dressed. One problem.

"Katy? I don't have clothes with me."
Katy turned to Shannon.

"Shanny? I love you so much. You know that, right?"

"Save it, Kate. I have a sundress I forgot in one of the guest rooms. She can wear that. I'll bring her," Shannon said as she got up from the chair she had just sat down in.
