3rd POV

Elena arrived at the Salvatore House. She rang the door bell then knocked on the door. The door opened a little and she went inside.

"Stefan? Bela?"

Then a crow flies near her. She turns around, only to have Damon appear right in front of her.

She began to apologize, "I...I'm sorry for barging in. The door was open."

Damon looked her over. "You must be Elena. I'm Damon, Stefan and Bela's brother."

"They didn't tell me they had another sibling."

"Well, the twins aren't one to brag. Please, come I'm sure Stefan will be along any second."

"What about Bela?"

"You know you don't have to ask for her. We both know you only came for Stefan."

Elena looked shocked for a second, "That's not true."

It's true. Elena hasn't seen Bela in a while, well she did see her around school, just not talk to her. She really liked Bela and wanted to get to know her better.

"Then why are you asking for her?"

"I wanted to ask her something?"

"She might be around here some...oh, there she is."

Bela's POV

I can hear Elena and Damon downstairs. I need to get there before he does anything that might hurt Stefan's chances with her.

"She might be around here some...oh, there she is." Damon looked at me with a smirk.

"What's going on? Oh, hey Elena."

She waved at me.

"Well, Elena here, wanted to see Stefan and apparently you." Damon said.

I waved her over to the living room. Damon followed.

"Wow. This is your living room?" she asked in amazement.

I replied, "Living room, parlor, seventies auction."

Damon butted in, "It's a little kitschy for my taste. I can see why my brother's so smitten. It's about time. For a while there, I never thought he'd get over the last one. Nearly destroyed him."

I rolled my eyes. I feel like punching him all over again.

"She doesn't want to hear about her, Damon. What happened was in the past. Let's leave it at that." I told him, sending a glare his way.

"Oh come on Bela. She probably knows anyway. Let's not forget that she was your best friend too."

"What do you mean the last one?" Elena interrupted, obviously wanting to know.

"Yeah. Katherine, his girlfriend? Oh, you two haven't had the awkward exes conversation yet." Damon said. Oh my god, if Elena didn't know about vampires I would have snapped Damon's neck to shut him up.

"Nope." Elena says looking upset.

"Oops. Well I'm sure it'll come up now. Or maybe he didn't tell you because he didn't want you to think he was on the rebound. We all know how those relationships end."

"You say it like every relationship is doomed to end." I said, Elena nodding her head in agreement.

Damon looked at me. "Oh, really? When was the last time you were in a relationship, Bela?"

"I don't know, Damon. It feels like decades ago."

Which is true, I remember my relationship when I was human and one after I became a vampire, but somewhere in 1900s I couldn't remember. The only thing I remember from then was spending most of my time in New Orleans. Why? I don't know, parts of it is all a blur. Then, without reason, I decided to leave. Don't get me wrong, some guys were interested in me, but something inside me felt like I would betray someone if I even thought about being in a relationship. After I left New Orleans, I had this empty feeling inside me. It's been like that since then.

"Exactly. My point proven."

"No it doesn't, Damon. Not all relationships are doomed." Elena told him, defending me.

"I'm a fatalist. Hello, Stefan." Damon said.

Thank god, he finally showed up.

"Elena. I didn't know you were coming over." He told her, looking at Damon.

"I know. I should have called, I just..."

Damon interrupted, "Oh, don't be silly. You're welcome anytime. Isn't she, you guys? You know, I should break out the family photo albums and home movies. But, I have to warn you. He wasn't always such a looker and she was a bigger brat back then."

Stefan, wanting Elena to leave soon, said, "Thank you for stopping by, Elena. Nice to see you."

"Yeah, I should probably go. It was nice to meet you, Damon." She said.

"Let me walk you out." I told her, knowing that they needed to talk and to get away from Damon for the moment. She nodded and we started to leave.

Before we got to the door Damon yelled, "Great meeting you, too, Elena."

We got outside and we stood in front of her car. Elena broke the silence.

"How come you guys never mentioned Damon before?"

I sighed. The best thing I could think about is telling her that the truth, well not the whole truth, but half of it.

"Elena, you just met him. I hope you understand why neither of us wanted talked about him. I mean you were inside for like five minutes and the tension in the air was thick enough to be cut with a knife. But, I just wanted to let you know it wasn't from you. Stefan, Damon, and I...we haven't been close for awhile. Stefan and Damon had a disagreement and I just happen to be in the middle of it. Don't listen to Damon, you're not a rebound. We haven't been here for long, but I can already tell you make Stefan happy. And it's nice to see him like that, I haven't seen him like that in a long time." I told her.

She smiled at me and did something I didn't expect her to do. She hugged me.

"I'm sorry."  I looked at her confused.  "For Katherine. She was your best friend and you lost her."

"Yeah, but that was a long time ago. Anyway what did you wanted to ask me?"

Now she looked at me confused. Then she remembered.

"Oh yeah, sorry. I was wondering if you can come over to my house before school tomorrow?"

"Sure, do you want Stefan to come too?" I asked wiggling my eyebrows and giving her a smirk.

She laughed.

"No, it's just us girls before school starts."

"Sure sounds like a plan."

After Elena got in her and left I went back inside the house, with my anger coming back, hearing the end of Damon's conversation.

"...the closest you'll ever get to humanity is when you rip it open and feed on it."

I marched over and stand right next to Stefan, crossed my arms and asked suspiciously, "What kind of games are you playing, Damon?"

"Guess you'll just have to wait and see, won't you?"
