Chapter 2

Tobias POV

I watch Rose walk away and then turn and make my way to the waiting room to tell Will that Tris is awake. I don't walk far before I see him and Jade playing with some Barbie dolls and ponies.

"Hey Will can I talk to you?" I say pulling him away from Jade so she doesn't hear.
"Sure what do you need?" he says when we are far enough away so Jade won't hear us.
"I just wanted to let you know that Tris is up and I'm going in to see her and Christina can come in after she's done in there." I say meaning talking with Rose.
"Alright I will let her know, good luck in there man." he says patting me on the back and then returning to Jade.

I take a deep breath and walk down the hallways to Tris's room. I make a right, a left, another right and then I am at a door that reads,

                                          Tris Prior
                                     Tumor, Heart Attack.

I take another deep breath and turn the handle of the door. I walk into silence only hearing the beeping of the machines. I walk in passed the first empty bed and then behind a curtain I see my Tris all poked and prodded with tubes and needles and bags, I almost leave the room when Tris realizes I'm there and says "Tobias?" in a weak little voice I am not used to hearing come out of her.

"It's me, you don't have to talk." I say moving to her bedside and holding her hand. She smiles when she feels my touch and squeezes my hand back.

"Looks like you still have your fight." I say trying to cheer her up, and it works cause she laughs.
"Well after all I am still Dauntless." she says raising an eyebrow at me. I smile and look at her beautiful face and wish this had never happened.

"Tobias? Tobias?" Tris says waving a hand in front of my face snapping me out of my daydream.
"What? What did you say?" I say trying to remember what she had said but I am drawing a blank. She chuckles and replies. "What's wrong with me and why am I here?" she says in the same small and weak voice as she did when I walked in.

"Well do you remember playing Truth or Dare at Zeke's?" I ask testing the waters.
"Yeah..." she says nodding her head. "That's where Christina cut my hair." she adds running her hand through her hair.

"Good, and might I add you look so sexy." I say wiggling my eyebrows.
"Why thank you." she says trying to strike a pose in bed.
I laugh and continue. "Do you remember me carrying you in here?"
"No but I remember blacking out." she says.
"Okay, well we were playing, like you remember, then all of a sudden you fell to the floor screaming and twitching, so I had Christina call the infirmary and I ran you all the way here and now we are here." I explain and I don't see any reaction on her face only her say "So what's wrong with me?"

"Well the nurse told me that you have a tumor lodged right by your memory and that you had a heart attack at Zeke's house." I say as kindly as it can be so she doesn't get overwhelmed all at once. I squeeze her hand tightly and say "Tris are you okay?"

"Well considering that I have a tumor and could lose my memory and I had a heart attack, I say I'm doing pretty good." she says with a smile and I hear a small knock on the door.

"Come in." Tris says and Christina walks in with red puffy eyes.
"Oh, Christina" Tris says and motions for her to come over to the bed. I stand up, give Tris a kiss on the forehead and walk out of the room back to sit with Will. I don't want to be in there when then have there "girl time".

"I walk back to the waiting area and see Will in the same spot as when I left. I stop and look at him and Jade play with her toys, think that could be me one day, just not in the hospital. I am snapped out of my daze when Will notices me and motions me over.

"Hey," he says once I sit down "Do you mind watching Jade for a minute, I was going to run and grab some coffee." he says
"Sure I will watch her, only if you get me a coffee." I say jokingly.
"I was going to get you one anyways." he says standing up and now taking to Jade. "Hey Jade can you be a good girl for Uncle Tobias here?" he says in his soft daddy voice.
"Sure, only if you get me a cookie!" she says and Will shoots her an eye and she adds "Please."

"Yes I will, now you be good now" he says giving her a kiss on the top of her head. "Thanks Tobias and you want a XL with cream and extra sugar right?" he says
"Yes sir." I say, he nods and makes his way to the cafeteria.

"So Jade what are you playing with?" I ask her
"I am playing with my ponies and Barbies." she says showing my one of each. The ponies body was blue and it's hair was green. It also had a star on it's back leg. The barbie was a normal looking barbie, long blond hair, a pink dress and pink shoes. She also had a child barbie in her bag.

"Looks like fun. Do you have a doll for me to play with you?" I ask
"Yeah!" she says and turns to dig into her travel bag pulling out a Ken barbie for me to play with in all black.

"Here Uncle Tobias, it even looks like you!" she says with a smile handing me the doll.
"He does look like me. What is his name?"
"Umm... How about Mark." she says picking up her dolls and continues to play.

I move my doll to the end of the coffee table and pretend to make the doll walk up to her barbie and pony.

"Hello," I say in a deeper voice (Kind of like darth vader) "I am new in town can you please tell me somewhere to get some food?" I have "Mark" ask.

"Why yes I own a food place if you would like to come for something to eat." Jade says in a very sophisticated voice. I chuckle and follow Jade as she moves to the other side of the table.

"Here we are!" she says putting the dolls hands up.
"It looks very nice." Mark says sitting down on a stool.
"What can I get you to eat?" Jade asks
"How about a cheeseburger?"
"Coming right up!" she replies and moves behind the counter which is really a stack of magazines.

"Here you go!" she says putting a "cheeseburger" in front of my barbie.

"Thank you." He says and takes a big bite out of the burger.
"Ha, now you're dead! I poisoned you Mark! Ha!" Jade almost yells. I am shocked that she would come up with something like this but after a moment I make some choking noises and my barbie falls face first on the table.

"Well, well what do we have here?" Will asks with coffee in hand.
"I killed Mark!" Jade yells.
"Now why did you kill Mark?" Will asks with a smirk on his face.
"Ummm..." Jade didn't have a response so I say
"Because Mark was going to take her restaurant from her."
"Yeah!" Jade says

"Okay well what do you say to Uncle Tobias for playing with you?" Will says
"THANK YOU!!" she says as loud as she can and gives me a giant hug.
"Your Welcome." I say putting her down and taking my coffee from Will.
"Thanks." I say to him as he sits down and Jade goes back to playing.

"Anytime, I have to run this to Christina." he says motioning to the other cup.
"Jade do you want to see Aunt Tris?" Will asks
"Yeah!" she says like nothing is wrong in her life.
"Okay well pack up your stuff."
"Okay." she replies and puts her ponies and barbies away.

"I am ready daddy!" she says with the big bag on her shoulder.
"Alright let me carry the bag and hold my hand." Will says standing up and so do I.
"Can I hold your hand?" she asks me.
"Sure." I say holding out my hand and she puts her small hand in my big one.
"Alright, let's see Aunt Tris!" Jade says as she pulls me away from the waiting room.
