"Alexandria."
The blood drains from my face. I know that voice all too well. It comes to me in my nightmares every night.
"Ciel." I reply evenly, and turn. My older brother stands in the shadows of trees, whipped by the lashes of the pouring rain. His dark eyes are focused on me.
"Loving him is wrong." He says softly, his voice barely able to be heard over the storm.
But I can hear him clearly.
"I have known that from the day I realized I loved him." I snap back. "You do not need to remind me."
His eyes search mine, and then narrow. "Has he hurt you in any way?"
I nearly laugh at Ciel, but pain burns in my heart, festering. Anger will follow, and then... God only knows. "You have no reason to care about me. So why ask that?" My own eyes narrow. "I do believe you would be happy if he had."
Ciel is silent, then... "Just because you committed something so horrible, does not mean I would abandon you. You're my sister, Alexandria."
"No, I'm not!" I lash out. "I'm a monster, Ciel! I'm the person Scotland Yard has been searching for for years!"
Strong hands suddenly grip my wrists, and Ciel forces me to look at him. "That power was forced upon an innocent ten-year-old. You had no idea what you were doing when you created those men out of nothing and caused them to kill our family. You thought you were playing a game. You were told it was a game."
Tears slip from my eyes, and I bit my lip. "No. No, I...." I had no answer. He was right, but I still blamed myself.
With a shaken sob, I sunk to the ground, and Ciel followed, slipping his arms around me. I leaned into him, finally letting myself go. He was the only person who knew the truth, who knew me. "All these years," I whispered through my tears. "I needed you, Ciel. I needed my older brother."
"Shh." He rests his head on top of mine. "I know. I'm sorry, Alex."
"Mistress?" A voice calls. I sob at the sound of his voice.
Ciel stirs, and looks up. "She doesn't want you here right now. Leave us alone."
I press closer to my older brother, trying to confirm with my actions what he said.
There was a pause, and then Sebastian says softly, "I'm sorry, Mistress. I was going to tell you, but I never had the chance."
I stop Ciel before he can reply, then say quietly, steeling myself, "I know that isn't true. You broke our contract by lying. Which means my soul no longer belongs to you." I look up at his red eyes, glaring. "Take your wife and sister, and anything or anyone that came with them or you, and leave."
"Mistress--"
"Leave!" I yell at him. "Get the bloody hell out of my life!"
He refuses to budge. Probably because he doesn't have to obey me anymore. "But what about your revenge? Surely you want that to be completed?"
"It is already." My eyes glow with fury, and I pull myself together and stand up. "If you aren't gone within the hour, I will make a new contract. And what happens to you won't be pretty." I threaten.
Sebastian's mouth presses into a firm line, and he disappears.
I turn to my brother, and say softly, "I know you're a demon, Ciel. But because you're the only thing I have left, I want you to stay. Please."
