"We've been driving around for forty five minutes." Calum whined from the backseat, placing his bare feet flat against the window, watching as the buildings zoomed past between his toes. "Where the hell could this man be?"
"An insider said he was around the arena." Luke clicked his tongue, scrolling through his Twitter mentions. All he wanted was to find Michael again. He hadn't seen the singer at all since Adelaide and Melbourne was now their last stop. Of course Luke would still try and find Michael around Sydney, but the man deserved some privacy when he got to go home to his family. He needed to meet Michael again in Melbourne.
"Clearly not." Calum grumbled, letting out a long, dramatic sigh. "Where should we look now?"
"I don't know." Ashton clicked his tongue. "Maybe the hotel?" The Kiwi was about to respond, being interrupted by a loud ding coming from the car. "Shit, we need petrol. Luke, where's the nearest gas station?"
The blond hummed, quickly going onto Google Maps on his phone and waiting for the page to load. He gave Ashton directions, biting his lower lip absentmindedly as they pulled into the gas station. Knowing their rounds for paying for fuel, Luke automatically got out of the car, watching as Ashton jumped out too to get the job done. The blond walked into the store, heading straight towards the fridge to pull out a few bottles of water and then fishing a bag of Skittles. He stopped dead in his tracks as he saw a bundle of red hair walk inside, his phone buzzing at the exact same time as Michael stepped in.
"Fuck." The blond whispered, trying to juggle the three bottles in one hand and taking the bag of Skittles between his teeth. He fished his phone out, confirming his thoughts as he saw a message from Calum.

In an attempt to lock his phone, the water bottles came crashing down, making everyone turn around to see the blond standing there with three water bottles rolling away from him and a bag of Skittles hanging from his mouth. He blushed once he saw a familiar pair of green eyes on him, grinning widely as he realised who it was. He walked over to where Luke was standing, picking up two of the bottles as Luke bent over for the third one.
"Hey." He smiled, laughing as he grabbed the bag of Skittles from Luke's mouth. "You're not supposed to eat the bag, you know?"
"Funny." Luke rolled his eyes playfully, locking his phone and putting it in his back pocket. "Thanks, though."
"It's all good." Michael shrugged. "Come on, I'll pay for your gas."
"No," Luke laughed nervously. "It's alright." He walked alongside Michael back to the counter, putting everything on top of it so it could be scanned and paid for. "Ashton, Calum and I have the gas rota and it's my turn anyways. It wouldn't be fair."
"You sure?" Michael asked with a slight raise of his eyebrow. "It'd just be a treat from me to you guys. You could pay the next one."
"It's all good." Luke couldn't help but blush slightly, liking how keen Michael actually was on paying for him. However, Luke wouldn't let him do it. "Thank you so much, though."
"I'm surprised I haven't seen you around lately, Luke likes bands." Michael tilted his head, leaning against the counter as he handed the cashier his own card to pay for his gas. Luke eyed him with a slight smirk, only now noticing this was the first time he was seeing Michael wearing shorts in person. He hadn't realised how much he liked it until now. "What've you been up to?"
"Ah," The blond shrugged. "I've been hanging around with Cal and Ash. We haven't been very lucky with timing to meet you, unfortunately. Every time we got whenever you were last seen, you were already gone."
"Hm," Michael hummed with a laugh. "Talk stalker to me."
Luke snorted, rolling his eyes yet again as he heard Michael laugh. He paid for his own items, taking the bag from the cashier and thanking them. "That was terrible. And fine, I'll stop chasing you around and I'll play hard to get now."
Michael stopped, turning around and taking a step closer to Luke. They had never been that close before, and Luke couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated as the red haired man looked down at him with a smirk. It had only now downed on Luke that Michael was always smirking around him. He didn't know if he should take it as something good or not. He liked it, anyways.
"I like a challenge." Michael breathed, his breath fanning Luke's face. "But two can play at this game."
Luke was surprised with the direction that the conversation had taken. How had they gone from talking about stalking to playing hard to get in a blink of an eye and the conversation had turned from light small talk into a heavily insinuative conversation?
"No one beats me." Luke said confidently, allowing himself to flash Michael a cocky smile. His signature cocky smile when it came to flirting. Luke was always overconfident when flirting, and it had never failed him. It didn't seem to be failing him at that moment either.
Michael laughed, instantly breaking the tension between the two as Luke joined in, giving Michael a light, playful push. He could see Calum and Ashton watching curiously from inside the car, but at that moment, he didn't care. It was nice to be around Michael without jealous teenage girls around to watch their every move and listen to their every word.
"You didn't let me pay for your gas, but come on, let me buy you a coffee. You've travelled all around this country to see me play, it's the least I can do."
"But Cal and Ash-"
"Come on," Michael snorted. "Those two are so loved up inside that car, they won't even notice you're not there. They'll go on a date of their own."
"So you're saying this is a date?" Luke questioned, feeling his confidence start to grow yet again.
"I never said that." Michael smiled, walking towards the door of the convenience store and leaving Luke to follow behind.
