"Yes, hi. It's Jasmine Mason calling. I just wanted to find out whether it will be possible for me to slightly change my order?" It was ten in the morning, and I was struggling to keep my composure as I tried my best to copy Jasmines annoying, squeaky voice.
It also didn't help that Jordan was rolling around on my bed in silent laughter, clutching his stomach. He really was going to be the death of me. I should have kicked him out of my room while i called the florist.
"Yes, I understand that the wedding is just under three weeks away, but I just want to change the flowers to Lily's. Yes, I know I said that I didn't like them all that much. However, my mother in law changed my mind." I pulled the phone away from my ear and dramatically rolled my eyes at it. I was going to have to bring out the big guns.
"Listen, I'm fairly certain that you know my family, and I'm sure you know how quickly I can send you out of business." I smirked in satisfaction and gave Jordan a thumbs up. I pulled the phone away from my ear again and ignored the faint buzzing of her frantic apologies and agreements. "It worked," I whispered harshly to him.
"Great, I appreciate the cooperation. Please ensure that the decorative arrangements at the venue are changes as well as the bouquets. Have a nice day." My phone hit the surface of my desk with a certain finality. Now that i had changed the flowers, my plans to ruin Jasmine's wedding even the slightest bit, all I had to do was wait. Which would be the worst part.
I highly doubted that Jasmine would check on the flowers and cake. She expected everyone to do everything perfectly for her, and any suggestion that they wouldn't do it perfectly would have Jasmine ranting and raving like a lunatic.
Jordan gave up on staying silent and erupted into a boom of laughter. "You sounded just like her! It was hilarious."
I pelted one of my bed cushions at him, but he caught it with ease and continued on laughing. "You're a jerk something, Jordan. It was hard enough without your idiotic silent laughter."
As he always did, Jordan followed behind me as I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen. Richard was sitting at the table attempting to eat some form of breakfast. He hadn't eaten properly since Lucy's death, and it was shown clearly by the bagginess of his work suit.
His suits were all specially made for him, so usually, they were a perfect fit. Now though, his pant legs shivered and slapped as he bounced his knee. The sleeves were zoo loose that when he rolled them up to his elbows, they just slid back down again. We had had his sister stay with us for a while after the funeral to try and help. Didn't look like she succeeded though.
I ignored him, choosing to keep up my act of remaining completely silent out of grief. I started cleaning up the kitchen, in an attempt to make some room for myself to work. By the time I had started on cleaning the dishes, Richard had left for work, leaving behind his dirty plate. Typical.
"He is such a buzz kill," Jordan groaned. Stepping away from his hiding place in the corner, he jumped up onto the kitchen bench, making horrible noises and kicking his feet heavily against the cupboard doors below him.
"He did just bury his daughter a week ago, after having to bury his wife not long before that," I told him with a roll of my eyes as I drained the sink. "I'd say he has a reason to be a buzz kill at the moment."
Satisfied with the tidiness of the kitchen, I began taking out everything that I would need, including one of Jennifer's cook books, much to the confusion of Jordan. He watched me as I walked back and forth around the kitchen, filling my hands with bowls, egg cartons, milk, and whatever other crap the recipe said that I needed.
"What are you getting all of that crap out for?" Jordan asked, snatching a few of the items out of my arms. "Are we having a food fight?" He asked with wide eyes, and just a little bit too much enthusiasm.
