LUKE//
"it's all good, nothings gonna hurt you here," I promised, with her held close to my chest.
she stayed silent besides the continuous crying that seemed to be dying out just a bit.
"c'mon, you wanna lay down, maybe a glass of water, cuddles?" I asked, trying to see if there was anything that she might like.
"I wanna sleep," she mumbled into the wet t-shirt that adorned my body. I squeezed her for a second.
"we can sleep," I assured, not wanting to let her down right now, despite the fact that I wasn't tired. I nodding my head towards the stairs and her depressing form moved toward them.
I climbed the stairs behind her; waiting. waiting for a glance, or maybe a mumbled sentence, but it never came, I knew it wouldn't.
"want some clothes?" I asked as quiet and gentle as possible, in which she shifted sadly and wiped her face with her sleeve.
she nodded, and I slipped my shirt over my head and handed it to her, "is that okay?" I asked, making sure she was getting what she wanted.
she whispered, "yeah, thanks," before standing and changing her clothes, throwing the dirty ones on the floor like a weight lifted off her shoulders.
I stood and watched her; that was something she never liked, she didn't like the idea of me seeing her in that vulnerable state, but it was beautiful.
she knew very well that I was watching her, which is why she tried to cover up as soon as her old clothes were out of the way.
"no," I mumbled softly, not wanting her to feel like she had to cover up around me. she turned to face me, her bloodshot eyes looking into mine, contemplating me.
"sorry," she apologized weakly, shaking her head at herself, looking defeated.
"it's fine, put it on, lets get to sleep," I said in the only way that it would't sound demanding.
she slipped the oversized shirt over her head, turning back to get on the bed. I laid down and opened my arms for her, she gravitated right to me and curled into my chest, wiping her eyes one more time.
it didn't take long for her short snores to echo through the room, I knew she had to be tired, no doubt,
she had a long day, and so did I, but hers was longer in a way that I wouldn't understand.
I layed there and watched her sleep for only a bit until the sleep that she was in also came over me in soft waves; not quiet crashing down on me like they were on her.
