LUKE //
it didn't seem like long until I woke up, but it had actually been the entire night, I forced my eyes open to see that she hadn't woken yet.
I pressed kisses to any part of her body that I could reach or think of.
her cheeks, forehead, neck, collarbones and all. it seemed like forever until her breathing got heavier am her eyes were opened by choice.
I pressed a final lingering kiss on her cheek just centimeters from her lips and then pulled back to see into her exhausted looking eyes.
"you've been asleep for so long," I noted. I snuggled her closer into my body, pressing a short kiss to her temple before dropping my head back to the pillow and closing my eyes for just a moment.
"I was tired," she whispered, looking back at me with tired eyes.
"I know," I sighed, breathing outwards heavily, "you definitely needed some sleep."
there was a deeper meaning of the word tired when it fell from her lips, and I knew exactly how she meant it.
I squeezed her sleepy body into mine for a second, then laying back again. she breathed out, tilting her head up, and kissing my nose. I scrunched my nose up and gave her a smile.
"good mood?"
she sounded as surprised as I was when she smiled and mumbled out, "yeah, I am actually."
I raised my eyebrows at her, "really?"
she nodded and shrugged her small shoulders.
I wasn't sure if she was serious or if she was saying it to make me happy, but I was definitely happy about it.
"that's good, that's great actually," I smiled down at her.
I pulled away so that I wasn't touching her, just to get a good look at her.
it wasn't everyday that she was happy, and I was ready to take it in the best I could. so I did, and I liked it. it looked good on her.
I stood and stretched my back, mumbling, "come here," although I doubt she could really decipher what I had said.
she crawled to the edge of the bed and swung her legs back and forth off the bed that she always claimed was 'too tall for her', and it 'only worked for me'.
I stepped in between her legs, to which she wrapped them around my knees. I kissed the corner of her lips softly, running her neck gently with my thumb, as I closed the space between our lips in a proper kiss.
I pulled away and looked into her eyes for uncertainty, and while I was there I discovered something.
"your eyes are almost grey, baby," I stated. not really expecting an answer, rather just a head nod or a shrug but was proved wrong after only a few moments of peaceful silence.
"yeah, their pretty boring," she shrugged, giving me a half-asses smile. I frowned and shook my head, silently telling her that it wasn't what I meant.
"no, they're like - I don't know - clouds. like clouds in a sky that's supposed to be blue, instead it's a rainy day, and the sky is no longer blue, rather a clear grey; reflecting down on the clouds."
she knew what I meant. there was no way that someone couldn't get the moral of that story, it was too obvious to miss.
her eyes were dull; sad, depressed, grey. they were supposed to be blue, like the pictures she's allowed me to see of her as a young girl, they had been bright blue; full of life, happy, careless. but as all things do, it all changed; "it's a rainy day, and the sky is no longer blue, rather a clear grey."
