"Ok well who was the man that brought me here? And well, what happened to all those girls?" He looked a little confused to start with, then he must have realised what i was talking about.
"Oh you mean Shaun." Now it was me pulling the confused face.
"Who is Shaun?"
"Shaun is a close mate of mine, he's like a brother to me and my business partner. You don't need to worry about him Jane. . . He's all talk and not walk." He took another bit of the sandwhich in his hand.
"What about the girls?"
"What girls Jane? I told your what happened to them already."
"If so then why did a girl return to her cell covered in hand prints and ripped clothes?! Not to mention what she was covered in?!!" I shouted the last sentence at him. I can't believe his naivety! He looked at me for a moment, then picked up and other sandwhich and continued eating. At this I put down mine half, got up and stormed off on the path I thought led back to the house. I walked for at least 2 minutes before I felt something grab my wrist. At this I turn around to see mason holding my hand.
"Let go!" I command
He shakes his head and looks at me with pleading eye's.
"No! Why did you get up and leave? What did I say? I'm sorry Jane."
"Mason I said let go! I want to eat alone." He just looked at me with wild eyes.
"No Jane, you don't want to eat alone. I know that and you know that. God Jane we almost kissed just before!. . . You can't want to be alone!"
He looked so frustrated with me. I look at him and smile, saying in a sweet and innocent voice.
"Kiss you? Now, why would i do that?"
He shook his head at me, laughing he said.
"Oh Jane, don't do that to me okay. You worried me, you always worry me." He looked away, letting go of my wrists to put both his hands in his pockets.
"Why?" I asked him.
"Why what?"
"Why do you worry about me mason?" He looked at the floor.
"Because. . . Because I just do okay. After your accident and then losing you. . . I-" He looked away from me and put his head down.
"I can't lose you again. I just found u Jane. . . Ah just forget it."
I grabbed for his arm as he turned away from me. Swinging him back around to face me.
"Its okay mas I'm not going anywhere any time soon." He looked up at me and we both smiled at eachother.
"Promise jellybean?"
"I promise mayo."
He pulled me in for a hug. For a few seconds I hesitate before I hug him back. Whether or not he felt my hesitation was unknow as he didn't acknowledge it.
