On the way

"Hania, wake up." Zeke nudged me.

"Wha... What happened? Are we there yet?" My eyes shot wide open. I didn't know what just happened. It was disorienting to see only the color white. I looked over at Zeke who was staring at me as if I were an exhibit at the zoo. "Stop looking at me like that." I nudged him away.

"Sorry, but you were screaming... What the hell were you dreaming about?" Zeke peered at me, and I could tell he wasn't in the mood for me to lie to him. What do I do? I barely know what I was dreaming about.

"I only know it was white. Nothing else. And mist, there was mist, but that was it..." I whispered. I only knew to tell him things I could understand, and even then, I didn't really know anything about it. He didn't need to know about the boy with his white eyes. I just needed time to take it all in before worrying about what it meant. It wasn't just another dream you forget after you wake up. I knew everything from the second I walked into a misty white room to when the boy said a very terrifying hello.

"I don't see how that could make you scream, but it must have been something important. My grandmother says all dreams have a purpose, so we'll need to keep a careful eye on anything white. You know, besides the new addition to our race with white eyes and a sneaky mind." He raised an eyebrow, now concerned at what we were going to see once we got to our destination.

The drive never ended, only for rest stops and to eat. We decided not to stop at a motel. We didn't need to sleep in a bug infested room if we could shift and sleep under the trees. Morphaíma are very connected to nature. We can understand the lives of every creature on the earth. So we stopped at an abandoned shopping mall, parked and made our way towards the trees surrounding the buildings. We needed to go far enough into the forest so that no one would see Zeke and I shift. We decided to be bobcats, and sleep in the trees.

We both shifted, our blood rising in temperature, and our human-like structures transforming into something feline. I gathered up my fallen clothes, and made my way up the tree. I didn't need some wanderer in the woods stealing my clothes. I peered over at Zeke, climbing his way up to a nearby tree. He had the same idea as me to bring his clothing with him. He turned and winked at me, and settled into a nook in his branch, falling into his own bubble of sleep.

I sighed, looked down to make sure there was no trace of human activity, and curled into a ball for sleep. I hope I don't get another visit from the white  place before meeting this new addition in person...

The sun peeked through the sky, orange and bright. I slowly opened my eyes, to welcome a new day of nonstop driving. Stretching and letting out a long sigh, I looked over to see if Zeke was awake yet. Where Zeke and his clothes once were, I found nothing. Great, where was he off to today?

I gathered my clothes, pushed them off of my branch onto the forest floor, and jumped down. Making sure no one could be watching, I shifted back into my normal self, running my fingers through my hair, making sure I still had all of my limbs. Shifting wasn't always 100% if you're not focused on what you want to be.

I quickly slipped my clothes on, and made my way to Zeke's tree, seeing if I could get some clues as to which direction he went. I already knew it was a lost cause. He is pure stealth, and no one who wasn't a morphaíma with  stealth could find him... I made my way back to the car, and decided to wait there. I knew he wasn´t in trouble, because I would´ve heard distress throughout the night.

As I turned a corner from the back of the shopping mall I expected to see the Z4 in all it´s sleek glory sitting in a nearby parking space, which did not happen. I was going to kill Zeke when I find him. He better be the one who left with that care, because if it was stolen, I´d have to smack him. That care had valuables in it, information not to be shared with humans.

If this was another one of his pranks, I´´ll have to kill him, heal him, and then kill him again. Shaking my head, I went over to the parking space where the Z4 once was, and decided to wait. I was too mad to go try to find Zeke, and if her were in trouble, he deserved it.
