Sigh. Why does life have to be so complicated? I got a call from my friend, Kyle, saying that I need to see him urgently at his house -well more like an apartment,- but when I arrive there he pulls me in quite violently, closes the door and demands that I give him advise about what he should do about his 'nagging parents'. Sigh. Can life get any more complicated?
"Dude? Are you even listening to me? I've been trying to get your attention for the past 3 minutes and 29 seconds. Are you ok? You don't usually ignore me like this..." Said Kyle, trailing off at the end as if he was hesitating about asking me of something. "Are you thinking about... That?" Before you ask me, yes I did tell him about my Demigod life, but that's a tale for another time.
I shook my head. My bangs falling into my eyes. "No Kyle, I wasn't thinking about that. I was just... Thinking... No need to worry about me." I said with a sigh and sat down on the couch, putting my head in my hands. A migraine forming in my head with a dull throb.
Through the corner of my eyes I saw Kyle reach out to me. I felt him put his arms around my shoulders in a comforting way. I leaned into his embrace and sighed again.
I could always rely on Kyle for comfort. He was my older brother for more than 8 years now. I met him 2 years after the Giant war. So now that makes it 10 years after said war. Damn how time flies.
"Hey," he said softly. "How about we forget about my nagging parents and your old life and let's go out. Just you and me. What do you say?" His voice was soft as he whispered to me.
I took a deep breath and slowly stood up, not exactly wanting him to think that I don't want his comforting embrace. I closed my eyes, thinking.
Should I go? Should I not go? Will it get things off my mind? Will it be fun? Maybe I should go. Just to keep my mind occupied.
I turned to face him with a determined look. "Let's go to the Aquarium!" I said. He chuckled at my exclamation but nodded his head and stood up. He ruffled my head fondly and walked up the stairs with a feline-grace. He motioned for me to follow him. I quickly followed him as he walked into his bedroom.
His room was painted a white-blue colour. He had an office desk and an office chair in the corner furthest from the door on the right. His bed was pushed back in the middle of the room on the right. He had a door on the left corner that led to a bathroom. And he had a built in closet on the left wall. All in all, his room was huge. Twice as big as my own room.
Kyle bent down to look under his bed and pulled out a box. He left it on the bed and went to look in his closet. He took two sunglasses out and left them on the bed. He scratched the back of his head nervously and opened the box. It was full of caps...
"Uh... I don't want to be rude or anything... But why did you take these things out?" I asked timidly. He looked at me and smirked at me as if to say 'I know something you don't and I'm not going to tell you anything until you give me what I want!' It kind of reminded me of the Stolls... No! Stop thinking about that! You don't need them! They don't need you! There is no need to hurt yourself more that you already are. They don't need you... You don't need them...
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Kyle snapping his fingers in front of my eyes. I blinked and took a step back. I stumbled and would've fell had it not been for Kyle catching me and steadying me.
"Thanks," I mumbled and sighed. Kyle held my shoulders and looked deep into my eyes. Kyles eyes were a dark shade of lavender. His pupils looked like a deep shade of purple. His eye lashes were long, framing his eyes in a perfect way. His fringe fell onto his eyes like a blanket. His hair was a deep, dark shade of blue -almost black, but still noticeably blue and it was sticking out in every direction except down -anime style. His face was Asian. Chinese most likely. And he doesn't speak Chinese.
"Hey man, are you ok? Your eyes just glazed over as if you were in a trance. Please don't tell me you were thinking about your past. I'm not trying to replace them, but you need to try and let go of them. They... Hurt... You all those years ago. Don't hurt yourself more thinking about them. They are not worth your tears. Come on. Choose a cap and glasses then we can get going."
All I could do was nod my head absent mindedly and walk closer to the bed. I looked over at the glasses. One was green in colour while the other was a normal pitch black. I picked the black one and sieved through the box filled nearly to the brim with different types of caps.
There was a red one with blue stripes, but didn't fit me at all -Kyle called me big head and I just threw the DAM thing at him. A black cap with a white skull caught my attention but I immediately discarded it.
Eventually, I took a black cap with a monster sign on it. The sign was blue.
I turned to Kyle with a satisfied smirk. "There, now we can go." He smirked back at me and took his keys from the desk. "Well shorty, let's take my car and get out of here before my nagging parents decide to phone me again."
