Friends Become Foes

chapter 14

I stared in the spot where Riptide lay. That monster just killed himself. Said some disturbing things. And then killed himself. "P-Percy?" Nico's soft voice broke through my thoughts.

I turned around to face Nico. I smiled at him and walked over to him, inspecting him for any injuries. "You're ok. I'm so glad." I hugged him tightly. "You're not mad at me?" I shook my head at his silly question. "No silly. How could I ever be mad at you, little brother? And besides, you were possessed. Don't worry about it for now." He nodded his head and buried it into the crook of my neck. I felt his silent tears fall.

I rubbed his back and whispered soothing sweet nothings into his ear.

I felt a bubble of rage flow throughout my blood. How could that thing do this to him? How the hell did it know that we are demigod's? What the hell is going going on? Why do I feel as if I'm being left in the dark?

I pushed those thoughts out of my head. I can't think about it now. "Come on Nico. We need to get out of here." He nodded his head but still clutched onto me as if I was his life line. I sighed and gently picked him up. I can't believe that he is still so light. I chuckled at my thought as I walked over to Kyle. "Is he ok?" He asked as he too over looked Nico's body for injuries.

I nodded my head, somehow unable to speak. "Kyle, let's go. We need to get as far away from this place as possible. I don't want to stay here for any much longer than necessary."
Kyle nodded his head understandingly and quick ran out to start the car while I casually walked out of the bathroom.

There is no need to get any of these normal mortals alarmed. That's the last thing that we need.

I sighed in relief as we finally drove away from that place. I looked at Nico who was sleeping between us. Even in his sleep, I could tell that he was distressed.

I sighed and ran a hand through his hair, hoping to distract him from his inner troubles.

"Its nearly 7." Said Kyle. I nodded and sighed. Nico was still fast asleep. I didn't have the heart to wake him up. "We'll shadow travel there a little while after Nico wakes up." Kyle nodded in understanding and turned his attention back to the road.

I looked out the window and watched as the scenery went by, wondering what is to come when we get there.

For the sake of the world, I hope that they can at least put aside their grudges in order to work with me to get rid of the new evil.
