Keep going forward

I was walking down a rocky road,
on bare feet.
Every inch of my body was in pain,
because of the heavy load,
which was holding me down.
Strong hands were pushing me,
keeping me safe and grounded.

Keep going forward,
keep going forward.

A little rock slipped away,
I fell down from the weight,
and expected hands to catch me,
but I just kept on falling.

I didn't understand anything.
You were supposed to be there,
you were supposed to catch me,
to keep me safe.

After I had fallen, broken and alone,
I realized what had happened.

Mommy's gone.

But I stood back up
and kept repeating to myself:

Keep going forward,
keep going forward.
