October 6th, 2014. 4:03 pm.
I slumped on my bed and groaned. I had just come from an exhausting day of school with teachers reminding us about finals in every class. Every fricking class. Man they should really call school a torture chamber. I imagined walking up to school with the words "TORTURE CHAMBER" plastered on the brick building in bold, red letters. I snickered at the thought. I got up and looked at some of my papers and tried to organize them for the next two hours. I ended up watching Netflix with a pack of Oreos and Doritos by my side. Whoops. I began to realize I should probably start studying but I couldn't peel my eyes away from American Horror Story. It was addicting.

I saw that it was already 4:45 pm and finally decided to get my life together. Ha, no I really didn't. I just went for a run because I honestly enjoyed being able to go at my own pace while having some time to myself. And of course burning calories, that's good too. As I was thinking to myself how sucky my life is right now, I saw a girl. I slowed down to a walk and watched her.The girl was dancing. But like hardcore. She had ear buds in and was doing the sprinkler and then a horrible version of the nae nae. Don't worry I know what that is, I searched it up. And attempted to do it but of course not without being caught by my father who walked in. And stared at me like I had two heads then slowly shook his head and closed the door. That was a fantastic dinner that night. Not awkward at all. But she was really into it. She was making noises that sounded like the cry of the red-tailed hawk in pain. Oh wait, she was singing. I snorted and tried to hold in my laughter but I failed. I burst out laughing at the sight of the girl and she finally noticed me. She whipped her light brown ponytail and stared at me in confusion. Of course I didn't stop laughing and at this point I was hunched over with tears streaming down my face. She turned bright red and to my surprise, crossed the street to where I was.
"Hey you!! What the hell are you laughing at?" she said still cherry red and breathlessly.
"Sorry its just that you're dancing kinda sucked and your singing sounded like a dying bird." I said shrugging.
She stared at me appalled and then the next second it was as if steam was coming out of her ears.
"HOW DARE YOU?? I AM A VERY MAJESTIC DANCER AND A WONDERFUL SINGER!! IN FACT I EVEN TRIED OUT FOR THE VOICE AND I WAS TOLD I WAS FANTASTIC BUT THEY SAID THERE WASN'T ANOTHER SPOT FOR ME!! She exclaimed with anger.
I raised my eyebrows at this. "You didn't try out for the voice did you."
Her angry expression faded and she mumbled under her breath "No. No I didn't."
I laughed a little at her crossed arms and scrunched up nose. She had an elegant looking face like the one you would want to sit down and paint. Her face had a light tan to it but still was dotted with freckles around her nose and eyes. She had eyes that were of the most unusual color, amber. They reminded me of a mixture of flicks of molten gold and amber. It was truly beautiful. Her cheeks were flushed with pink from the cool autumn air.
"What school do you go to?" I asked shifting my weight from my left foot to my right.
"I just moved here from Michigan like four days ago. But I go to North Heights. You?"
I looked at her in disbelief. How did she go to my school and I not notice her?
"That's the school I go to!!" I said with surprise.
"Oh really??? You have to show me around. I have no idea where I'm going half the time and I don't even think I remember my schedule!"
We continued making conversation like this, mostly about school, until it started getting dark outside. I checked my watch which read 6:04 pm. Oh shit. My mom was going to kill me. She probably thinks I got kidnapped by some sketchy person. Okay, so I have a fear of sketchy people. They freak me out!! Especially if they're wearing a black hoodie and have their hands in their pockets. Oh yeah, those kind are the scariest. Usually, I just speed up and try to cross the street while trying not to scream in terror. Yeah its kind of a problem. I told her I had to walk home and she agreed that she had to get home too.
"Hey where do you live anyways??" I asked her.
"Oh um, I um, don't actually know. Just a couple blocks down and then you turn like right I think. Haven't really gotten used to area I guess!" she said avoiding eye contact.
Huh, that was weird. There was only one street a few blocks down but it was a dead end. And it had office buildings and such so she couldn't have possibly lived there.
"Do you need help walking back? I've lived here for five years so I'm pretty familiar with the area."
"No!!" she said with a look of panic in her eyes. "Well, I um mean no thanks. I can find my way home just fine and I have my phone so yeah.." she said trailing off.
I just shrugged it off and said goodbye. She was a weird one. Yet, somewhow interesting. I turned around to get one last glance at her but she was gone. With no trace that she had ever been there. As if she was a ghost. I must really be going crazy I thought to myself. I walked back to my house and tried explaining to my mom what the hell I was doing. I ended up saying how I had seen a girl but of course my mom went ballistic and almost fainted with the thought of it. So I just sighed and tried to start studying again. No luck. I finally felt a wave of fatigue rush over me and decided to go to bed. But not before receiving a text:
I like you. :)
And that's all. Just three words plus one smiley face. And it was an unknown number. Um creepy?? But I tried not to let my paranoia get to me and I attempted to fall asleep for the next hour. But who was it? Was it the girl? How the heck would she get my number though? I also realized I had never asked the girl her name. Oh great she probably thinks I have no manners and am just some dumbass who stalks girls. Fantastic. I finally fell asleep.
But not without the image of a girl with amber eyes and a scrunched up nose.
