The Relationship That Can Never Be

Chapter 6: Lunch Date

It was about a 15 minute drive with traffic and it being lunch time the traffic was everywhere. It was 10 minutes after 12 she was sitting at the red light and her phone rang. It was Brandon.

"Hello" she said

"Hey where are you? Are you still coming? I hope your not going to stand me up. " he questioned in a panicked way.

"I'm stuck at the red light across from 3rd I'll be there soon" she responded driving to 4th where the Chinese place was at.

"Okay we'll in waiting at the door like I said I would be." He said patiently

"I'm pulling in are you wearing that blue long sleeve shirt and a tie? Is that a polo shirt for a lunch date?" She asked redundantly wanting to make sure that was him.

"Yes it is, hurry up, I'm starving" he said rushing her.

She hung up the phone got out of the car and walked quickly to the door to meet him.
'Dang he looks good.

"Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous, I didn't know I was going to lunch with the most beautiful girl ever" he said bragging on her looks.

"We'll thank ya, thank ya I had to try to look this good but I still don't think I look as good as you, your wearing a tie." she said blushing.

They went Inside and told the Chinese women at the door a table for two. She led them down the hall past the buffet tables and told them to sit in a corner with two chairs and gave them two menus since the buffet wasn't until dinner.

" what will you two have to drink?" She said in Chinese accent

"I will have a tea and my lady here will have a water" Brandon said quickly without even asking her

She walked away with a smile and writing it down in her little notepad.

"How did you know I drink water?" I exclaimed

"Chelsea told me your on one of your health kicks" he said with a little bit of Sarcasm about her health kick.

She sat there in silence or a moment looking at the menu. Then she spoke up

"What should I order?"

"Anything you want, remember I'm paying for whatever you want" he said

"We'll I might have to break my health kick for today because nothing on this menu sounds really healthy"

The waitress came back and gave the water to Kate and a tea to Brandon.

"Are you two ready to order" she said holding the notepad up like she's about to write something down

Brandon said "yes I would like the sesame chicken and rice. Can I add another tea and coke as well?"

The little Chinese lady said politely "yes you can! And for you ma'am ?"

Clueless of what I was wanting to get I kindly said "I'll be having the same as him but I want noodles instead of rice with extra vegetables"

"Thank you" she said walking off.
Both of us smiling at her fake smile as she takes our order.

Finally after a few moments of sitting there I spoke up.

"Why did you wanna meet up? And why did you order extra tea and a coke?"

He responded quicker than I expected

"I honestly like you, I knew I liked you ever since I laid my eyes on you last night, we had such a great time and I probably spotted you before you seen me, don't you think? And oh about the extra drinks in case you wanted one, you said your going go break your health kick.

"Yes we did have a good time but I didn't think that much interest was drawn to me.?"

We sat there talking about us for almost 10 minutes and how we were and bringing up memories from last night, but I don't remember much.

Then unchew the Chinese waitress brought our food to us, and extra drinks. Our food smelt so delicious!

I let brandon take the first bite of the food so I didn't look like a pig, he said it was good. So I took a bite of mine. It was better than it smelt.
It had so many taste and had my taste buds going crazy! Then he looked at me and gave me that look.
"Can I ask you a question?" He asked

"Of course you can, anything." I said calmly wondering what he was going to ask and panicking inside.
