East Brooklyn was something I wasn't very fond of. Lots of gangs, fights, and the police arresting drug dealers left and right. My house isn't as quiet as I want at times. I have two brothers. Jeremiah but we call him Jerry,he's 18. and Jay who is 16. Jay has dark brown eyes with caramel skin and short curly hair that I sometimes pull when I'm angry with him. He's the funniest one in the family. He's almost six feet and a bit muscular. He gets it from my dad. Jerry is more manly, and he's 6'2 He helps around the house with us kids. He's goofy at times too but he's mostly serious. He has short brown hair, caramel skin and has a job working at Walmart. I also have two sisters,Kianna and Joanne . Kianna is 15 and Joanne is 3. Kianna is around my height,5'3. Her skin is a bit darker and she has wavy medium length hair. Joanne is the cutest one in the family. She's short, cheeks puffy like those big marshmellows that mom buys and the softest voice I've ever heard. Then there's me. Heaven Queens. I'm 5'2,caramel skin that is slightly darker and wavy hair that runs towards the middle of my back. I'm 14 years old. Being one of five kids and living in the ghetto part of town isn't easy. My mom works in a beauty salon not too far from here and my dad is unemployed. My mom and dad fight a lot. It scares me at times. But tonight, it hit rock bottom. I woke up to the sound of screaming downstairs and breaking of glass. I sit up in my bed and see Joanne at my bedside and she looked petrified."What are you doing?" I asked her. "What's going on downstairs?" "I don't know." Joanne replied. I checked the clock that was on my nightstand and it was 1:00 in the morning. I got up from my bed and took Joanne 's hand to go to Kianna's bedroom. Low and behold,Kianna was already wide awake and standing by the steps looking downstairs. "I don't know." Joanne replied.
I checked the clock that was on my nightstand and it was 1:00 in the morning. I got up from my bed and took Joanne 's hand to go to Kianna's bedroom. Low and behold,Kianna was already wide awake and standing by the steps looking downstairs. I walked over by her and listened also. "What's going on?" I asked Kianna.
"Mom bewailed dad because of his laziness." Kianna explained. "Can't blame her though." She added. "He punched me on the back because I didn't make his pancakes right this morning." Kianna turned around and showed a big, purple and black bruise on her left shoulder blade. My heart shattered to think that dad would actually do something like that. I heard mom and dad get louder and louder. I picked up Joanne and slowly crept downstairs. Kianna followed behind me. There we saw,Jerry telling dad to stop yelling.
"You don't do anything,James!" Mom shouted. "You just sit on your lazy butt all day!" "I sit here and stay with the kids all day and you go to only God knows where!!" Dad protested back. "I go to this place called WORK!" Mom shouted. "YOU should be at home taking care of these kids!" "Oh please, just be happy they're not a worthless peice of trash like you." Seconds later, dad slapped her out of anger and started screaming at her furiously. "Don't you ever disrespect me like that!" He shouted. It went dead silent then dad grabbed his coat and went out the door. Mom sighed and turned around. Kianna,Joanne and I were shocked and scared for our lives.
"Go back upstairs and go to bed!" Mom demanded. "Go go!" She shooed us away. We all turned to go upstairs and we saw Jay standing there. We all walked upstairs towards him. "Did he do it?" Jay asked sounding like he was trying to hold back tears. "Did he do what?" Kianna ask. "Hit her." Jay replied. "Yeah." I replied. "But go to bed. It's late,we're all stressed and tired. Plus,we have school tomorrow." I layed down Joanne and tucked her in bed then went in my room then fell asleep.
