We quickly drove off. All I could just think that Matthew was dead and wasn't suffering no more. The thought made me nervous. The great thing is that Naomi nor me hadn't been shot. Terry was forcing the driver to go really fast. Faster than the speed limit. I looked outside the window and we were rushing so quick that I couldn't see the buildings we passed by. "Slow down!" I shouted. "Shut up!" The man in front of me shouted at me. I was scared out of my mind. I didn't know what to do. We swerved to the right then to the left. We ended up in front of my house.
Terry turned to Naomi and I. "Get in the house and if you hear gunshots, DO. NOT. GO. ANYWHERE!" Terry said to us. Naomi and I were scared out of our minds. We didn't know what to do. We both grabbed our backpacks and got out of the SUV then went inside the house. The thing about us is, we are nosy kids. Most of the kids on this block are nosy. We sat on the floor by the window and we both agreed that we would go out the back window and run if we heard the guns go off. I didn't want any of this to happen to be honest. I didn't want anyone to get harmed or worse, killed. "I know something." Naomi said. "Matthew wanted to off himself." She said looking down. "Who knows what he'll do." I said. "When he got shot the first time....he looked like he wanted to be shot at." "He did?" I asked her. She nodded her head yes. I looked up and peeked out the curtains a little. I saw Terry's boys standing all around with guns.
But then a black van swerved out of no where then everyone started shooting at each other. Naomi and I ducked down. We heard so much commotion. "Oh my gosh. What do we do?" I asked. I heard no response. "Naomi?" I said. I turned and there she was. Shot. There was blood all on her hands and she was holding the wound. I got my jacket and pressed down on the wound. "Shit! Naomi!" I called for her as I sat there shaking her. I crawled to the house phone and called 911. "911, what's your emergency?" The phone operator asked. "My best friend got shot! She's breathing and I think she can talk but she got shot!" I explained in a panic. "Ma'am, calm down." The phone operator told me. "Whats you and your friend's name?" "SEND THE POLICE NOW! PLEASE!" I yelled. "The police and ambulance are on their way but I just need to know your name too!" "My name is Heaven Denise Queens and my friend's name is Naomi Carter." I told her. "Hurry! Please!" "The police are on their way." The phone operator said. I hung up the phone and went to sit by Naomi. I held her and told her to stay with me. "Please." I said. "Don't die."
"Tell..." She whispered. "Tell my family I love them." "You're not going to die!!" I shouted. She started breathing weirdly. "I can't..." She hissed...out of breath. "Don't talk like that." I said. I then heard sirens outside. The police and the ambulance was there. I opened the door and they barged in. The police was outside and handling everything. They put her on the stretcher. Everything happened in slow motion. I watched her as she was put into the ambulance and I watched as Terry was put in handcuffs while screaming and crying. I was standing in the doorway with tears running down my face. I prayed to God that she will live and that she will live life with no complications. I then saw my mom across the street.
"MOM!" I shouted. I started sprinting over to her. I was few feet away! A few feet but then I hear a huge sound of a gun going off and a sharp pain in my right shoulder blade. Everything just faded. "HEAVEN!!!" I hear my mom screaming. And the sounds of Joanna's crying all echoing as everything went black.
