The next morning,I got up from bed and was too lazy to put on casual clothes so I just walked downstairs. I didn't smell mom's pecan pancakes or heard Jay joking around and annoying Jerry and my sisters. Total silence is what I heard and the steps creaking as I walked down them. I heard mom in her room watching TV. I could tell she was upset. It was 6:00 and she only had 2 hours until she had to go to work. I liked getting up early on the weekends, just to watch my favorite shows. Tom and Jerry,Bill Nye the science guy,a movie like "Who framed Roger Rabbit?" and sometimes random cartoons I would find from just flipping through the channels. I finally found a show that I liked and I wanted to go get some fresh air for a few minutes so I grabbed my jacket and went outside in my PJs. I could see people going to work in their cars and the garbage man. Suddenly,Naomi came. "I thought you would be out here." She said smiling. She walked up the stairs and sat beside me. "Is Jeremiah going to be okay?" She asked me. "Yeah..."I answered. "Keep your head up,girl. And keep praying." "Lot of crazy ignorant people walking around here." Naomi added. I looked at her like I didn't know what she was talking about. In my mind...I knew. "Look across the street." Naomi pointed. "That lady..." She added. "Yeah..so?" I said. "She's Ms.Ross." She explained. "She can afford Gucci bags and expensive clothes for herself but she can't get her son a $30 toy he wanted." "Wow." I said in shock. "Yeah. Heaven, you're special."
"Yeah, right." I doubted myself. "What about all the other girls who are jealous of you?" She asked. "Lindy." "Lindy is..ugh....Lindy's a hoe. She'll do anything to get to Damion." I said. "Is he your boyfriend?" She asked in a singy-songy voice. "No!" I said laughing. All of a sudden,Damion came up and walked up on my porch. "Hey,I'm sorry for running yesterday. I saw a tall man behind Lindy and-" " "What?" I interrupted him. "I saw a man. He was black, about 6 foot, with a black jacket on,blue jeans, white jeans and he was looking straight at me. How could you miss him?" He asked. I had a flashback. It was the same person. I gasped and put my hand on my heart. Naomi grabbed my hand. "Are you okay!?" She asked. "What's wrong?" "Matthew!" "What?" "Matthew! The one that shot Jerry!" I panicked and stood up. "I think i'm gonna go." Damion said weirdly. I looked at him and he looked like he knew something. I walked down the porch and up to him.
"Do you know something?" I asked. "N-no..." He answered fixing his hat on his head. I looked at him with fire in my eyes. He started to walk off. "Bye!" I turned to Naomi and walked up the porch. "He knows something." I told her. "Where's Terry? Your brother?" I asked. "He's at home sleeping right now, why?" I ran into the house and ran upstairs. Naomi ran with me. "What's wrong with you,Hev?" I changed my pajamas to Jeans,a T shirt and converse. "Come on,we're going to your house." I said. I grabbed my keys for the house and put on my jacket then we walked out the door. I grabbed Naomi's hand and we ran to her house. We ran up to her front door. "Hurry up and get out your keys!" I demanded. "Okay! Okay!" She said. She got out her keys and unlocked the front door. "Terry!" She yelled out. I walked downstairs rubbing his eyes and he was shirtless. He's 18 too and REALLY tall. Almost 7 foot. He got shot 2 times before. It's a shocker that he's still standing with not even a mark on him. He's also really good friends Jerry. Almost best friends.
"What?" He asked. "This boy. Matthew. He shot Jerry." I explained. "WHAT!?" He exclaimed. He looked heated. I mean...HEATED. He ran up to his room for a second. Me and Naomi looked at each other. We came back down stairs with a gun. When I saw it,my heart dropped to my stomach. "What are you doing with that?" Naomi asked. "Mom will knock you dead if she found out. Especially dad!" "Shut the hell up and get in the car!!" He demanded us.
