| L A V E N D E R |Every winter I held onto what I knew I could hold out for; that no matter what, as long as there was snow covering the ground, my wolf would be out.
There was snow everywhere and my wolf was gone. He has been gone for a week now and I can't help but think he won't be back until next winter. I don't want to wait that long.
I go to school each day and watch the clock tic, fox, and wait for the end of the afternoon to come, but dreading it all the same because with the end of each day comes the time when I would have to go home and sit fuere, alone.
Today was no different, I stood at my locker grabbing my books for English when my locker door gets slammed shut and Lila comes into view.
"Yes?" My voice trails off as she simply stood there giving me a pointed stare.
"You need to get out of this...whatever this is. You need to go out and laugh and have fun and get over that strange little wolf obsession you seem to have."
I cringe.
"What-"
"Don't, Lavender. I'm completely fine with you watching your wolf and all, but he's gone now like he is every year and you need to get out and do real people things. This sulking isn't healthy and it's extremely un-called for, for something so irrelevant and unimportant."
I took in all the words that left her mouth. Though maybe a bit harsh I knew they were true.
"I know, Lila." I sigh, "I was actually going to do something after school today." I said with a small smile. It's nice to know that she cares so much and also kind of embarrassing to be caught in all my sulking...over a wolf.
"Oh that's fantastic!" Her face lit up and I smiled wider too. This was nice.
And then the bell rang.
"Have fun in English." Lila said as she winked at me with a smirk and walks away. I roll my eyes at her retreating figure and let out a short laugh. I turn to go in the direction of my class, but stop short when my body comes in contact with a very broad, very hard chest.
I still for a moment, which earns myself a small cough from the thing that stopped me. I raise my head to look up only to be met with a raised eye brow and small, barely there, smirk.
"Um, sorry." I say quietly and back away from the intimidating boy.
"Can I walk you to class, Lavender?"
God, I live to hear him say my name.
I blush with a small nod and fall into step beside him.
"You know, guys don't usually ask to 'walk a girl to class' like...ever."
I had to look up to see his face while I lamely tried to start a conversation."Mhm? Well I'm more interested in taking the gentlemen approach rather than..."
He slung his arm over my shoulders, picking up his pace as if he was dragging me behind him. I still blushed."...walking up to your locker, giving you yet another "heart attack" since that seems to be unavoidable, then letting my arm weigh you down as I drag your body behind me."
His arm fell from my shoulder. I shiver.
"You don't like that, do you?" He asks. If I hadn't been looking at his face I probably wouldn't have seen the small flash of consideration in his eyes and the way his eye brows furrowed together.
