| L A V E N D E R |I sat in the bath Luke had run for me, bubbles conceal my body from my own eyes and I'm unbelievably thankful for that. I don't want to look at the marks that so easily show up on my skin.
I slowly took the loofa Luke had left out for me, and pressed it to my skin. It was relaxing; the constant back and forth of the soap on my skin. So I kept going. I rubbed it faster and harder so that I could feel it as I watched the bubbles float around in front of me. And then the white bubbles turned pink and I was happy— pink's a happy colour.
"Lavender." His voice called from the other side of the door and I jumped. I noticed my arm was in fact bleeding and I looked for a towel to clean it up but my eyes caught my face in the mirror and I saw the tears, I didn't know were falling, stream down my cheeks and the bruises on my neck and collar bone that were the reason the tears continued to fall.
"Lavender." He said again this time his voice was stronger. Demanding almost. I only nodded because I knew he was aware that I had heard him now.
"What ever you're doing to yourself— stop."I was completely confused by what he said until I looked down at my arm to realize that I had continued fervently rubbing at my skin.
I'm dirty.
Then the door was open and the blue eyed boy was rushing in with so much grace you would never have guessed that he had just broken a lock off a door and smashed it in.
The loofa was taken from me and then the soap bar and I sat there. Blurred vision, mascara on my cheeks, and hickeys on my neck that weren't supposed to be there.
His mouth was moving and I could hear the noise, but I couldn't make out the words.
Blue.
His eyes were blazing. They didn't look like the ocean or the sky they looked like every bit of electricity in the city was flowing through them.
"Lavender!"
It wasn't a yell, it was a growl.
And I was back.
I lifted my arms to cover my body, completely caving in on myself. Now his eyes were just blue, he looked down and the hurt stayed on his face for longer this time our eyes met.
"I'll bring you a towel."
He walked out then came back quickly and handed it to me slowly.
"Do you need help?" He looked at me like I was a shattered piece of glass that was once the most important thing in his life.
Imposible and untrue, but a nice thought.
I want to shake my head and refuse but I know I won't be able to pull myself out of the tub without hurting myself in the process. I nod and he took the towel back, opens it wide and wraps it around me while I'm still in the tub. He lifted me out with no problem, though the towel gets wet in a few places. In seconds I was set on the bed with a pair of sweat pants and a white t-shirt set beside me.
I drop the towel on the bed beside me and I put the shirt on, letting it fall past my mid thigh, then still sitting, I slip on the sweats as well.
He turns around the second that I finish.
"You take the bed I'll be on the floor right beside you." His voice is soothing as he walks towards me.
I shake my head immediately.
"You're not sleeping on the floor this is your home."His eyes rose in surprise at my voice. It didn't shake as I shiver uncontrollably, it had been one of the only things I'd said all night.
"Not tonight Lavender, please just-"
"Stay with me."
"I'm not leaving."
My eyes widen at the realization of what I said and then the promise he held in his words.
"Please h-hold me, I'm just cold and I- i—." My teeth chatter as I trail off quietly and look down not able to hold the burning eye contact any longer.
Then I was warm.
His hand cups my chin to pull my face up to look him in the eyes and my breath catches.
"Are you sure, Lav?"
I nodded. Positive. He's the only one I trust right now, the only person here. After the events of tonight, staying in a house that I could already hear the rest of his friends getting drunk in downstairs, didn't exactly comfort me.
He pulls the blanket back, lifts his shirt off over his head and then turns off the light, he got in bed and motioned for me to as well.
I did and we lie for a while with space between us, and I'm fine because he is here and I'm safe.
I want to say sorry for how much I shiver, but if he is already asleep I don't want to wake him. One of us deserves to rest tonight at least.
I felt warmth radiate through out my body as an arm drapes over my waist and a hand is placed on the shirt that covered my stomach. I nearly jumped out of my skin at the contact.
"Shhhh, it's me, it's just me. I'll keep you warm...I won't hurt you, Lavender." He whispers this soothingly as he pulls me into him. I can feel his breath on my ear and side of my neck and I finally relax a little. My body melts into the mold of his.
"Thank you, Luke."
"Don't. You don't need to thank me. If anything I should have been there sooner." His voice didn't sound of comfort any more it sounds cold. I go to turn around in his arms to face him, but his hold tightens to stop me from doing so.
"Get some sleep Lavender."
He said it like a demand, and my body was more than happy to comply.•
