happy storms

i am senseless
my body full of happy storms and warm oceans
making boats crash and skies fall

but i am okay for now

there's a boy whose smile is bright and he tastes like stardust and staying up all night

rolling down streets and looking at christmas lights, sitting on rooftops, making promises,
theories buzzing in our heads about how the world was made and how long it takes to make it to forever

we hold hands and he keeps talking
but i am stuck, frozen in place as that word echoes in my head like a scream against a cliff side

his eyes are the colour of the sea and mine are the colour of the sand and he always tells me what he's thinking—i wonder what i would do without him.

i guess i'll know soon.

forever isn't so far away.
